White Tie

A pale creamy white

Our prettiest white is named after the old, pre-brightened, starched cotton used for white tie jackets. One of our Yellow Based Neutrals, White Tie brings a gentle warmth to any room and is deepened with a touch of black pigment. Combine with Matchstick, String and New White for a delicate scheme with reassuringly creamy undertones.

Recommended Primer & Undercoat: White & Light Tones

Complementary white: Wimborne White

White Tie is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 108.

Back in 2010, we moved our entire range to an eco-friendly water base that’s low odour, low VOC and child-safe, becoming the first in the industry to do so. Easy to clean without harmful solvents, in tins that can be recycled again and again, our paints help to reduce the environmental impact of redecorating your home.

Every one of our paint colours is available in a range of durable interior and exterior paint finishes, each rigorously tested to ensure an exceptional depth of colour and long-lasting finish. For the very best results, we always recommend using a Farrow & Ball Primer & Undercoat – see above for the correct tone for this colour.

All Farrow & Ball finishes except Limewash contain isothiazolinones, which may produce an allergic reaction. Farrow & Ball Limewash contains calcium hydroxide which can cause severe damage in contact with skin or eyes. Rated 5 out of 5 by from White Tie to the rescue I nearly abandoned F&B on the basis that we had a big, big challenge trying to get a good clean finish on our dining room walls using Oval Room Blue (it took many re-coats and frustrated emails to customer service) that was eventually rectified. We wanted to update our middle hallway that is part of the kitchen which we affectionately call 'The Airlock' - a small passageway central to the house receiving very little natural light. I knew I would get drawn back to F&B because of the pallette and how well their colours compliment each other. We had initially painted 'TA' last year in Skimming Stone but this was a bad move on my part because it just left it looking very drab and grey and just didn't work with what little sunlight it gets facing the West. Needing to update it, and despite my blunder, I decided to paint TA in White Tie (with Old White on the wooden plate/Toby Jug rack that runs all the way around from TA into the adjoining kitchen). I went for White Tie for the walls because we have it on the front hallway staircase. It works so well as an understated neutral that doesn't feel stark or cold - there's just enough warmth to it for it to still feel 'fresh' without any clichéd yellow dairy tones. It's a delightfully pretty and elegant almost ivory colour (depending on the light) and appears to compliment the Old White well because of the apple green and cream tones we have in our West facing country kitchen. Overall it's been a successful refresh and the colour feels easy on the eye and serene to live with as we pass in and out. Luckily I didn't give up on you altogether F&B - you have redeemed yourselves!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from fabulous paint, fabulous colours, fabulous servic hard to choose between white tie, cord, cream & new white. all colours I love for my cottage sitting room. Decided on Rectory red for chimney breast, new white for rest of walls (above dado rail), matchstick for below dado rail & white tie for doors, etc. Looks fabulous, opulent, warm & classy. Rated 5 out of 5 by from As expected, great quality! Felt our beautiful old Grade II listed home deserved quality paint, so F&B was the obvious choice. We weren’t disappointed - lovely to use, great coverage, lovely warm cream colour, and the finish is beautiful, smooth and creamy!
