Studio Green

No.93

A deep, dark green

Our darkest green is also the colour painted on the original studio at Farrow & Ball, where many of our very first colours were created. When brushed onto exterior surfaces, the rich pigments respond extraordinarily to all types of light and magically appear much greener than on our colour card. Within the home, this deep hue appears almost black unless in very well lit rooms.

Recommended Primer & Undercoat: Dark Tones

Complementary white: Lime White

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super happy I bought this for one wall and shelving unit in our lounge. The paint was easy to apply and great that it is water based. Very happy with the colour.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Glorious Dismayed at first sight of colour as it resembled a light smokey green -but had faith it would dry darker as their Black Gloss appears Grey until it dried. This is a truly glorious paint which turns what could be a chore into an almost transcendent experience. Things almost paint themselves. Other than it opening the tin itself,self-stirring,putting the paint on the brush and moving your arm about it is hard to imagine how it could be improved. This is a gorgeous black-velvet green. Highly recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderful pigmentation and coverage. A joy to use We have recently had a loft conversion and knew we wanted our new master bedroom and bathroom to be a bit of a luxury. We toyed with the idea of colour matching F&B using another brand but decided it was worth getting the real deal. I'm so glad we did. The coverage after one coat was amazing and it was an absolute joy to paint with. We matched the walls and woodwork and paired the Studio Green with Railings on our chest of drawers and wardrobes. Both the Modern Emulsion and Modern Eggshell were easy to apply. I used the F&B dark tones primer on the wardrobes and cubbies prior to painting and it made a real difference. I wish I had done the same with the skirting as they were a bit 'slippy' to paint in their 'ready primed' white state but covered well after a second coat. The pigmentation is beautiful and changes throughout the day depending on the light making for a huge range of tones. I'm in love with the moody hues! We used Card Room Green in our bathroom which was also a delight to paint with and looks stunning (will post another review for this). Overall we're thrilled with the results. Yes F&B can be perceived as somewhat expensive, however in our opinion it was worth the additional cost. There is also the added benefit of using a paint that is not full of nasty chemicals, meaning it is more eco friendly, all tins are fully recyclable, brushes are super easy to clean and also it is very low odour (save the primer which did pong slightly but not too much). If you are wondering whether you should bite the bullet and buy F&B, wonder no more!
