Studio Green

No.93

A deep, dark green

Our darkest green is also the colour painted on the original studio at Farrow & Ball, where many of our very first colours were created. When brushed onto exterior surfaces, the rich pigments respond extraordinarily to all types of light and magically appear much greener than on our colour card. Within the home, this deep hue appears almost black unless in very well lit rooms.

Recommended Primer & Undercoat: Dark Tones

Complementary white: Lime White

ECO-FRIENDLY AND CHILD-SAFE

Back in 2010, we moved our entire range to an eco-friendly water base that’s low odour, low VOC and child-safe, becoming the first in the industry to do so. Easy to clean without harmful solvents, in tins that can be recycled again and again, our paints help to reduce the environmental impact of redecorating your home.

QUALITY FINISHES

Every one of our 132 paint colours is available in a range of durable interior and exterior paint finishes, each rigorously tested to ensure an exceptional depth of colour and long-lasting finish. For the very best results, we always recommend using a Farrow & Ball Primer & Undercoat – see above for the correct tone for this colour.

SAFETY INFORMATION

All Farrow & Ball finishes except Limewash contain isothiazolinones, which may produce an allergic reaction. Farrow & Ball Limewash contains calcium hydroxide which can cause severe damage in contact with skin or eyes. Rated 4 out of 5 by from Kitchen wow factor We have recently moved in and the house is in dire need of a new make over. I originally bought this product to paint a fireplace in the kitchen. I was so impressed with the colour I painted the kitchen units to bring it all together. I love the fact that it changes colour from green to black depending on the light.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Colour tone What I like about the colour is that it looks virtually black but as the kitchen is south facing the tone of green changes throughout the day depending on the light.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor I had high hopes for this paint however, it is very fussy to apply, dries very quickly and flashes. Brush marks are difficult to tun out, too. This colour (along with three other F&B colours) mark very easily and if wiped very gently with a soft damp cloth, leaves lasting wipe marks. No point returning the tin for testing (as suggested by F&B), as it is an inherent characteristic of the brand, in my experience. The sheen on the modern emulsion is high, which looks like a vinyl silk and it is unoleasant, so much so that I have repainted the room, using a different brand. Would I use the brand again? No. Quite simply, the results and performance are very, very poor in comparisson to the high price tag. The marketing strategy cannot be faulted however, the paint can be, in my experience. Having spoken to professional decorators, their opinion is very similar. All in all, an underderformer, in all but colour....in my opinion. No doubt a marketing member from F&B will be aling shortly, to tell me that my technique (of over 30 years) is to blame.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Superb depth of colour and finish quality - outstanding I used this colour in modern emulsion in my hall stairs and landing (period 2 bed terrace 1903) which is not a big space. Any early concerns about making it look dark were were quickly overcome, and paired with brilliant white for ceiling, cornicing and woodwork looks regal. Artwork stands out fantastically and I'm delighted I stuck to my bold choice!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Lovely colour, but very poor finish. I love this colour but unfortunately we have had problems with the drying which has lead to problems of fingerprint marks, scuffs and cupboard doors sticking. We didn’t use F&B primer and this maybe what caused the problem however, for the price I do expect a good finish no matter. Previous experience with cheaper paints have been far more satisfying. Having had this moan I must emphasise the the colour is exquisite. Photos don’t do it justice.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from not as good as the old style oil based paint I thought this would be like the paint I originally bought years ago for my outside garden studio, but it was not. I found it extremely difficult to apply , admittedly it was a sunny day but the paint was drying on my brush, and before it could be laid off with the brush to take out the brushstrokes ,it was drying on the wooden surface . After about 10 minutes a skin formed on the surface of the paint in the can! .This had to be stirred in before continuing. Several coats where required to achieve an even finish and even then brush strokes are evident . Overall a poor finish was the result. would not recommend and will not use again.
