Shadow White

Soft white with a hint of grey

Shadow White takes its name from the soft tone created when whites are used in shaded areas, bringing out the slightest hint of grey. For devotees of lighter neutrals on both walls and woodwork, this versatile and understated colour works brilliantly in any style of home. It has none of the perceived yellow of Slipper Satin and is the perfect contrast to the slightly darker Shaded White.

Recommended Primer & Undercoat: White & Light Tones

Complementary white: Wimborne White

Back in 2010, we moved our entire range to an eco-friendly water base that’s low odour, low VOC and child-safe, becoming the first in the industry to do so. Easy to clean without harmful solvents, in tins that can be recycled again and again, our paints help to reduce the environmental impact of redecorating your home.

Every one of our paint colours is available in a range of durable interior and exterior paint finishes, each rigorously tested to ensure an exceptional depth of colour and long-lasting finish. For the very best results, we always recommend using a Farrow & Ball Primer & Undercoat – see above for the correct tone for this colour.

All Farrow & Ball finishes except Limewash contain isothiazolinones, which may produce an allergic reaction. Farrow & Ball Limewash contains calcium hydroxide which can cause severe damage in contact with skin or eyes. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great colour To date I've used this in both a bedroom and a stairway/landing. I loved the colour so much I'm using it it multiple rooms. The colour is between a beige and a pale grey, and changes shade according to light levels. It looks different in the two rooms I've used it in but I really like that it does. I matched with F&B all white modern emulsion ceilings which looks great. Two coats of shadow white gives a richness to the colour, covers well and gives a fantastic finish. Love the colour and quality of this paint

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A great neutral Painted a west facing bedroom using it on the walls and skirting and I am very pleased with the colour and effect. It has transformed the room - kept Chappell Green on the feature wall as before. Love it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Robust and flexible colour We have used this colour (in egg shell) for all doors, skirtings and architraves in our Georgian/Elizabethan house. Although it is called white it is has none of the harshness of a pure white nor the yellowness of some off-whites. It can appear mushroom/light brown in some lights which allows it to morph in well with other colours. We used it (emulsion) on the walls in the kitchen where we wanted a warm but not intrusive background colour.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Creamy undertone in North Eastery Facing Room Have been asked to review Shadow White match pot. Looking for a new colour for our North Easterly facing front room that we are completely renovating, ie, long overdue new carpet and curtains. Previously decorated in Joa's White, Rasberry Carpet. Wanted something more contemporay, with a warmish feel as the room only gets the sun early in the day, wanted a cosy feel, day and evening. Found the Shadow white very pale grey with a creamish undertone in this room (not noticable when colour displayed in our South Westerly facing dining room) Choose the Shaded White, darker with more dept, grey with greenish undertone, more or less noticable depending on the light in the room at different times of day. Teaming this with medium, new blue/grey carpet and curtians. Furniture is dark brown leather. Happy with our choice. No photos yet.
