Hay

No.37

A dusty yellow

A modest yellow named after the dried crop, Hay is both warm and dusty. Less intense and sunny than the cleaner Yellow Ground, it has a distinctly green undertone which gives it an established feel, creating peaceful spaces especially when contrasted with muted Lime White woodwork.

Recommended Primer & Undercoat: Mid Tones

Complementary white: James White

Hay is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 52.

ECO-FRIENDLY AND CHILD-SAFE

Back in 2010, we moved our entire range to an eco-friendly water base that’s low odour, low VOC and child-safe, becoming the first in the industry to do so. Easy to clean without harmful solvents, in tins that can be recycled again and again, our paints help to reduce the environmental impact of redecorating your home.

QUALITY FINISHES

Every one of our paint colours is available in a range of durable interior and exterior paint finishes, each rigorously tested to ensure an exceptional depth of colour and long-lasting finish. For the very best results, we always recommend using a Farrow & Ball Primer & Undercoat – see above for the correct tone for this colour.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from High Quality Subtle yellow colour. We painted a black little sideboard (after sanding it down) and the paint was very easy to use and the pigment is clearly beautiful quality. (We realised we wouldn't even have needed a 2nd coat, but since we thought beforehand we would we didn't paint tidy enough the 1st time.) For me, I wish I would've gone for something even 'less yellow' and toned down (I'm after an 'aged', only palest yellow tone; neutral rather than either warm or cold. The 'HAY' was a bit too yellow for what I was after this time. Might repaint if I find that and will look forward to trying Farrow & Ball again..!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent product I recently painted our spare bedroom with the Hay emulsion and to be honest I thought the paint was expensive compared to the "normal" brands, but it covered the old dark coloured walls in one go and the finish was brilliant. As the saying goes, you get what you pay for!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Transformed the Room Bought this lime wash during lockdown and was so pleased to receive it during these difficult times. I had previously used Dayspring Yellow, but this was not available and chose Hay which was a much warmer colour and in fact much better. I have used it on stone and works well. The paint has improved this time around it's not as runny.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A warm pale mustard Gorgeous colour and excellent paint quality. I expected it to be more cream than mustard but it’s a beautiful colour.
