Great White

White with the slightest lilac hint

This elegant white is not named after a shark, but simply refers to how wonderful the colour is! Great White appears to be a very pale lilac when contrasted with our All White, making it perfect for children’s bedrooms when wanting to keep a fairly neutral scheme. Despite its red undertone, it is not the warmest of pinks. The inclusion of the merest amount of black lifts it to a wonderfully sophisticated shade with an extraordinary depth of colour.

Recommended Primer & Undercoat: White & Light Tones

Complementary white: All White

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful glow It took me a while to decide on Great White, but boy do I love the color now that it's up. I was worried I was going to want something less white, but the undertones on this paint really come through and it's just gorgeous! Customer service is great too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really like the colour I have only used the sample pot so far, but love it, there is a warmth to it that you don’t always get with white. The plan is to use for the entrance hall and staircase in our new house.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful pinky white Great white has a very soft lilac hue. A lighter softer white version of Peignoir in my opinion. It’s beautiful

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful, subtle shade I had a terrible time choosing a colour for my bathroom, as the tile is an odd shade of yellowy beige, which I wanted to tone down. After trying many samples, I settled on Great White, and what a great colour it is! It worked perfectly to tone down the tile colour, and quite aside from that, it is in itself a really beautiful white with just the palest hint of pink or lilac...not too 'sweet', just enough to be interesting while staying sophisticated. I ended up doing the walls and trim in the same shade, the trim in gloss, and I'm very pleased with the results. As always, F&B is a beautiful paint to work with, and it arrived quickly, impeccably packed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice pale lilac notes I didn’t want a strong lilac, just something with a hint of lilac and this is perfect. As with all paints they look different in different lights, so I would say it’s a pale lilac with grey/ silver notes

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice texture and shade of white I bought this along with a couple of other ‘whites’ a a darker colour to make colour swatches for my hall stair landing re decorating project. Plenty of paint to do a couple of A4 sized ( on greyish sugar paper ) for each colour so I can see how colours look in hall, stair case and landing, none have outside windows so no natural light. A perfect way to try before buying.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Besotted by this wonderful colour This colour is divine - white, grey, pink, violet, and both warm and cool. It goes with anything and is surprisingly fresh and different, while understated too. Having always lived in period houses in England and Scotland, I now live in a 24th-floor condo in Toronto with glass exterior walls and north, east, south aspects. I didn't want to go for beiges or creams in such a modern space, or my favourite neutral greys and blues. I wanted to be free of modern cliches in colour, but easy and appropriate at the same time. Meanwhile I kept seeing this colour in the sky at dawn and sunset, and tinging the clouds in reflected light. I never liked violet much but wanted to connect with the sort of nature we have outside in this modern context, so I decided to try it. And I am thrilled with the results. It's different, subtle, enlivening and very grown-up. I've now gone for Calluna in the entrance hall, with Great White woodwork, and it all looks fabulous - contemporary, classic and sophisticated. I love that, with Farrow & Ball, you can trust that even "different" colours like this will never take over or clash.
