A rich grey

This rich mid grey conjures memories of city suits made from flat woven fabric, so was named after the Norfolk village where the yarn was originally woven. For devotees of our Easy Neutrals, Worsted is stronger in tone than its counterpart Purbeck Stone, but lighter than Mole’s Breath. It has an understated richness with no cold tones, making it the perfect background to make clean accent colours pop.

Recommended Primer & Undercoat: Mid Tones

Complementary white: Shadow White

Back in 2010, we moved our entire range to an eco-friendly water base that’s low odour, low VOC and child-safe, becoming the first in the industry to do so. Easy to clean without harmful solvents, in tins that can be recycled again and again, our paints help to reduce the environmental impact of redecorating your home.

Every one of our paint colours is available in a range of durable interior and exterior paint finishes, each rigorously tested to ensure an exceptional depth of colour and long-lasting finish. For the very best results, we always recommend using a Farrow & Ball Primer & Undercoat – see above for the correct tone for this colour.

All Farrow & Ball finishes except Limewash contain isothiazolinones, which may produce an allergic reaction. Farrow & Ball Limewash contains calcium hydroxide which can cause severe damage in contact with skin or eyes. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Highly recommend Farrow and Ball paint I love this paint. I have been using it for the last 10 years and I would never use anything else. No drips, no waste, never fades. The colour remains the same throughout the years. Delivery was prompt. Very happy with my choice as always.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great finish I have been a satisfied customer of Farrow & Ball for many years. I find that their paints and emulsions, both moderna estate, give excellent depth of colour and finish.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worsted is the bestest! Just painted the chimney breast and alcoves in worsted and it's absolutely fantastic, so pleased. Took a good 3 coats but the results were excellent. Have teamed this colour with Ammonite and Purbeck stone - perfect combo! Paint is quite expensive but you really do get what you pay for.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just right! I've been looking for the right shade of 'warm grey' for months - found it! Worsted was just the right shade and depth for me to use for a feature wall in a medium sized room. Of course it compliments beautifully the other shades of FB that I had selected too. A bit more expensive but if you want a quality, luxurious finish, then you get what you pay for!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ideal for comparison purposes We could not decide which of three greys (including Worsted) to use for covering a fireplace's wooden surround, so the tester pots are invaluable for making the right choice. Although Worsted was not the final choice, it was great seeing the real thing by making our own colour chart at home for comparison. Even though the pots are only supplied in emulsion (when obviously we were looking for eggshell finish for interior wood), Farrow & Ball is of such superb quality, colour matches in the two applications of paint type, is identical.
