Red Earth

A warm terracotta red

This light terracotta hue takes its name from the very soil beneath our feet. Red Earth is a rich blend of red and yellow pigments which create a warm earthy feel in homes both old and new. Often best used in smaller spaces, this warm colour responds extraordinarily to the changes of light throughout the day, becoming deeper and cosier as the sun drops.

Back in 2010, we moved our entire range to an eco-friendly water base that’s low odour, low VOC and child-safe, becoming the first in the industry to do so. Easy to clean without harmful solvents, in tins that can be recycled again and again, our paints help to reduce the environmental impact of redecorating your home.

Every one of our paint colours is available in a range of durable interior and exterior paint finishes, each rigorously tested to ensure an exceptional depth of colour and long-lasting finish. For the very best results, we always recommend using a Farrow & Ball Primer & Undercoat – see above for the correct tone for this colour.

All Farrow & Ball finishes except Limewash contain isothiazolinones, which may produce an allergic reaction. Farrow & Ball Limewash contains calcium hydroxide which can cause severe damage in contact with skin or eyes. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Red earth I brought this for my bedroom. I was a little nervous about using a dark colour but red earth is such a beautiful natural colour and works really well in the bedroom, I'm so glad I took the risk.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Rolls Royce of paint in rich shade I bought this to do our best room and our painter said it was the rolls Royce of paint! The colour was risky but EVERYONE agrees that it looks amazing. It came out darker than I thought when it was on all four walls. 5litres did one big room in two coats.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Obsessed with this colour! I bought a few weeks ago to paint in our hallway, absolutely love how it's turned out. Colour is excellent, a lovely warm earthy red and it goes on a treat! Love the finish - I bought the modern emulsion as it's in our hallway so a pretty high use area. Matched with Little Greene Slaked Lime on the upper section of wall.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This modern emulsion is an all rounder. My first experience with this modern emulsion is a lovely one. It made a whole lot of difference because I followed the guideline for the first time. One coat of the F&B red and mid tones undercoat followed by 2 coats of the modern emulsion with light sanding and 4hrs drying time in between the coats. The paint dried fast but I gave it 4hrs drying time anyway. The undercoat made the difference. The whole 2.5L can of undercoat was used for the small cloak room; for just one layer of it on the walls and ceiling. The walls with an old paint drank the undercoat. At this stage, the walls looked dark and patchy. I was worried and thought I needed to apply another coat but I run out of it. So, with a heavy heart, I went on with 2 coats of the modern emulsion. To my surprise, 2 layers of emulsion on the same walls and ceiling needed half of the paint in a 2.5L can. The finish is awe-inspiring in quality. This modern emulsion impressed me a lot. The walls look smooth with tiny amount of sheen. The colour is deep with an even tone. A happy ending.
