Hague Blue

No.30

A deep dark blue

This strong blue takes its name from the fantastically coloured woodwork much used by the Dutch, and still works wonderfully to ground skirtings or as an accent colour on the walls when teamed with Borrowed Light. The green undertones of this timeless, deep and dramatic blue means it sits as happily outside as it does in small dark rooms.

Recommended Primer & Undercoat: Dark Tones

Complementary white: Old White

Hague Blue is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 214.

Back in 2010, we moved our entire range to an eco-friendly water base that’s low odour, low VOC and child-safe, becoming the first in the industry to do so. Easy to clean without harmful solvents, in tins that can be recycled again and again, our paints help to reduce the environmental impact of redecorating your home.

Every one of our paint colours is available in a range of durable interior and exterior paint finishes, each rigorously tested to ensure an exceptional depth of colour and long-lasting finish. For the very best results, we always recommend using a Farrow & Ball Primer & Undercoat – see above for the correct tone for this colour.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderful deep blue Bought last autumn to repaint kitchen cabinets that were previously a lighter Lulworth Blue. Used one coat of primer and two-three of estate eggshell. The paint was very easy to use, no ghastly smells, and dried quickly and evenly. Very pleased with the result. We chose to paint our lower cabinets and dresser in Hague Blue and upper cabinets and walls in New White, which worked beautifully in our old farmhouse kitchen. Since painting, it has been easy to wipe clean, which is vital with two children.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I purchased a small pot of dutch blue This little pot of paint I bought was just the right colour for the job I was wanting to do its perfect, if I hadn't of got all my decorating done I'd of bought it for one of the rooms I have done and changed the colour scheme it's lovely, The job I did with this I used a small paint brush to highlight the raised paper on my are deco dado rail wallpaper, it looks smashing. It went on a dream

Rated 5 out of 5 by from From door We used Hague Blue on the front door of our 18th century cottage, and that along with Hay (no. 37) on the interior walls, gives it a real feeling of age and cosiness! Lovely depth to both colours.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from What a colour!! I painted the wainscoting in my bathroom with Hague Blue and the walls white, and it is stunning, very clean and fresh. Sadly I was putting it on top of an oil based paint so it took 3 coats. It’s a very deep blue although my son insists it’s green? We’ll compromise, it’s dark blue/green.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Depth of colour is amazing After ordering a variety of sample pot colours, I made the decision to be brave and bold and do the whole room in Hague Blue, I'm so glad I did. The room is transformed and I am in love with this colour. The colour looks different in different lights, but stunning no matter what. Good coverage, I did use the dark tone base paint as the undercoat on the walls and glad I did. One top coat of Hague Blue did the job!
