A very pale taupe

Dimity is named after the lightweight cotton fabric originally used to make ladies’ bustles, but which is now more commonly used for bedding. One of our Red Based Neutrals, this pale and subdued taupe is brimming with warmth and an unmatchable depth, making it perfect for elegant and understated hallways. It can be combined with All White and Pointing to read pinker, or with the darker Oxford Stone on woodwork for a slightly aged look and relaxed feel.

Recommended Primer & Undercoat: White & Light Tones

Complementary white: Pointing

Dimity is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 145.

Back in 2010, we moved our entire range to an eco-friendly water base that’s low odour, low VOC and child-safe, becoming the first in the industry to do so. Easy to clean without harmful solvents, in tins that can be recycled again and again, our paints help to reduce the environmental impact of redecorating your home.

Every one of our paint colours is available in a range of durable interior and exterior paint finishes, each rigorously tested to ensure an exceptional depth of colour and long-lasting finish. For the very best results, we always recommend using a Farrow & Ball Primer & Undercoat – see above for the correct tone for this colour.

All Farrow & Ball finishes except Limewash contain isothiazolinones, which may produce an allergic reaction. Farrow & Ball Limewash contains calcium hydroxide which can cause severe damage in contact with skin or eyes. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Warm White We have painted all our ceilings and accent walls dimity. It is the perfect warm white so long as you don’t pare it with a tan or other white. This color is so versatile. We pared Dimity with Studio Green in our dining room. Our living room and hallway it’s on the ceiling and walls pared with Dead Salmon for trim color. Dimity is also pared with Green Smoke in our Kitchen. And in our bedrooms upstairs with a deep blue and moody green upstairs. We adore this warm white with the Northwestern light our house gets.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lovely colour I brought this a few days ago and I'm in love with the colour I used it as the main colour in the hallway with Card Room Green as a feature wall. It's not totally finished yet I'm struggling to find a colour for the skirting and door frames open to any suggestions

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Farrow and Ball paints never let me down.... I have used Farrow and Ball paints many times and they are always first class. Never used Dimity before but read the reviews and thought I would purchase a 2.5L tin of modern emulsion for my lounge. Coverage has been excellent and it has brought a lovely warm tone to the walls which changes with the light levels. Also sets off nicely the darker wood furniture especially the piano! Finished off the skirting boards with Wimborne White and it looks great. Delivery was prompt, even in these uncertain times it only took three days from ordering to delivery. I will definitely order direct from F&B again, especially as my local B&Q and Homebase only seem to stock the Estate Emulsion and not the Modern Emulsion which I find better for wiping down.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Gorgeous!! Farrow and Ball did it again! Red based taupe - exactly what l needed to go with a beautiful old original pink glass bowl lamp that came with the house. Without painting the walls pink. Does Farrow and Ball have some mad scientist tucked away in a lab whose only role in life is to see how scary a colour can look when you paint it on the wall? I can only say that l spent a worried couple of hours looking at the 80’s peach l was slathering over my walls! Yes, really! Retro 80’s (and not in a good way!). So l took a big breath and remembered how scary some of their other colours look fresh from the can (Brinjal l am looking at you!). Well, my faith was rewarded. It dried to the beautiful soft, red based taupe of my dreams. A stunning colour that works beautiful with the pink glass.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great coverage I had spent a lot of time and used numerous tester pots when at last I found Dimity. It is an easy neutral colour that compliments both wood and contemporary features. Happy that I only needed one coat. Great paint.
