Dead Salmon

No.28

An aged salmon pink

A subtle shade whose name refers to the flat or ‘dead’ finish of an aged pink painted at Kedleston Hall in 1805, Dead Salmon has a magical quality to it as everyone sees it differently. Be it a strong mushroom steeped in history, or a warming buff neutral, this deep salmon pink creates the most subtle and serene of environments suitable as a backdrop in candlelit dining rooms.

ECO-FRIENDLY AND CHILD-SAFE

Back in 2010, we moved our entire range to an eco-friendly water base that’s low odour, low VOC and child-safe, becoming the first in the industry to do so. Easy to clean without harmful solvents, in tins that can be recycled again and again, our paints help to reduce the environmental impact of redecorating your home.

QUALITY FINISHES

Every one of our 132 paint colours is available in a range of durable interior and exterior paint finishes, each rigorously tested to ensure an exceptional depth of colour and long-lasting finish. For the very best results, we always recommend using a Farrow & Ball Primer & Undercoat – see above for the correct tone for this colour.

SAFETY INFORMATION

All Farrow & Ball finishes except Limewash contain isothiazolinones, which may produce an allergic reaction. Farrow & Ball Limewash contains calcium hydroxide which can cause severe damage in contact with skin or eyes. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love Farrow and ball paint ! Chose this colour for a garage door that is in view from house. It blended beautifully with brick, so with planting’s in place, the area was softened. No more ugly white door!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not cheap but excellent results I first painted the outside of our cottage in this paint 11 years ago. I love the colour as it is very "soft" and mimmicks the colour of the stone. We live up a mountain and have harsh weather and the paint had got knocked and come off the concrete window cills. As the walls were still in good condition I got away with one coat on them, two on the window cills. It showed me just how much the original paint had faded to almost grey. However, I still love the colour and the paint does not drip and despite the cottage being pebbledashed I completed the job in 2 days. The paint is very expensive but on balance is worth it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great but definitely darker than expected I was looking for a pink/brown. Dead salmon is certainly more of a Brown in poorly lit rooms. If you’re wanting pink this has hints of it but only in the light, otherwise is more brown. That being said it’s still very pretty and different to the usual creams, white, grey and navy. One coat was all it took over my cream walls (with a few touch ups). I won’t go past Farrow & Ball. Speedy delivery too. A

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Worth it in the end My bedroom has always used a 2.5ltr in whatever colour/ brand I have chosen over the years, so when I was given a 2.5ltr can of Dead Salmon Estate Emulsion by a friend who had changed her mind on colour I was excited at the prospect of giving my room a refresh for free. The room was already painted in a colour similar to Pink Ground and I had used Joas White eggshell on the woodwork. I'm not new to F&B paints every room in my house is painted in either modern emulsion or floor paint (for durability as we have a St Bernard) all with excellent results. My room is the only suited to Matt emulsion. Initially I thought the colour to be a bit 60s but after some research decided to give it go. Despite it being a full can there was only enough to go around once and twice in a small recessed wall even with a feature wall of floral paper! Devastated. It became the most expensive freebie I've ever had. I had to buy another can to finish the job I also got another Joas White eggshell to refresh the woodwork all costing over £70 and leaving me without a bedroom for nearly a week. After all the stress and extra cost the result is beautiful the walls look like velvet and the colour has a gorgeous shift from dusky pink to beige throughout the day. The application was effortless. I would recommend but use caution with quantity.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tudor Brick We have used this to match in with some Tudor brickwork on the exterior of our Barn and it's subtle tone between pinkish and brown works very well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Dead Salmon Works well in the Victorian house, especially with mahogany furniture.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect blend with our stonework We live in an old cottage built with local stone similar to Forest of Dean and it has a slightly pink tinge. This paint colour, having tested six in all, is perfect. The sample pots were essential and prevented a serious mistake. Suggest anyone going this route paints a patch on the actual area to be painted. Paint easy to use and clean brushes afterwards. Two top coats were needed as recommended.
