A dark and sophisticated lavender

Brassica’s rich lavender tones feel both feminine and charming in light areas, but become much more sophisticated and grey in darker areas due to an underlying hint of black. Named after the group of plants which includes purple sprouting broccoli, this warm shade lifts cold feeling rooms without being overtly red. It is often combined with Elephant's Breath and Skimming Stone for a rich, contemporary feel.

Recommended Primer & Undercoat: Dark Tones

Complementary white: Great White

Back in 2010, we moved our entire range to an eco-friendly water base that’s low odour, low VOC and child-safe, becoming the first in the industry to do so. Easy to clean without harmful solvents, in tins that can be recycled again and again, our paints help to reduce the environmental impact of redecorating your home.

Every one of our paint colours is available in a range of durable interior and exterior paint finishes, each rigorously tested to ensure an exceptional depth of colour and long-lasting finish. For the very best results, we always recommend using a Farrow & Ball Primer & Undercoat – see above for the correct tone for this colour.

All Farrow & Ball finishes except Limewash contain isothiazolinones, which may produce an allergic reaction. Farrow & Ball Limewash contains calcium hydroxide which can cause severe damage in contact with skin or eyes. Rated 5 out of 5 by from First use of eggshell First time we've used Farrow and Ball eggshell, though we have used estate emulsion numerous times. I was very impressed with it, it goes on nicely, creamy consistency so doesn't tend to drip and the colour is lovely - we've used Brassica in Estate emulsion and eggshell on our ceiling, one wall and all the woodwork. It's a rich heathery-purple on our walls (South and West facing windows)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderful colour Used this on our bedroom over a year ago, and forgot to write a review. It's a fairly big room in a Victorian house with typical high ceilings and mouldings, cast iron fireplace, etc etc. and this colour replaced a pleasant but boring pale blue. We did not use an undercoat and the coverage and finish were still excellent. It is absolutely gorgeous with our mahogany wardrobes and old brass bed. It still pleases me every single time I walk in the room. We've used F&B before, but never such a strong colour, so my husband was a bit shocked when he opened the first can, and worried about the end result. He really liked it once the paint was on the first wall. Now he says he wants to "duplicate our bedroom" if/when we ever move!! I'd add photos, but have yet to find the right curtain fabric to complement the old patchwork quilt that looks great in the room, but is very difficult to match. So we're stuck with the plain blue linen ones, for now....
