Blue Gray

No.91

A cool blue grey

With its subtle mix of blue, green and black pigments, Blue Gray creates the most relaxed of rooms that feel as if they have always been there. It is a cooler, more weathered version of French Gray and has the same almost magical quality of gently shifting between blue and grey depending on the light and time of day.

Recommended Primer & Undercoat: Mid Tones

ECO-FRIENDLY AND CHILD-SAFE

Back in 2010, we moved our entire range to an eco-friendly water base that’s low odour, low VOC and child-safe, becoming the first in the industry to do so. Easy to clean without harmful solvents, in tins that can be recycled again and again, our paints help to reduce the environmental impact of redecorating your home.

QUALITY FINISHES

Every one of our 132 paint colours is available in a range of durable interior and exterior paint finishes, each rigorously tested to ensure an exceptional depth of colour and long-lasting finish. For the very best results, we always recommend using a Farrow & Ball Primer & Undercoat – see above for the correct tone for this colour.

SAFETY INFORMATION

All Farrow & Ball finishes except Limewash contain isothiazolinones, which may produce an allergic reaction. Farrow & Ball Limewash contains calcium hydroxide which can cause severe damage in contact with skin or eyes. Customer Reviews
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Deep grey green colour We’ve painted our kitchen wall with blue gray. Although I was looking for a little more blue, I’m very happy with the result. It’s a deep grey green and beautiful Matt finish. We used the modern emulsion, it’s very easy to clean after cooking. Colour differs in daylight and at night as you see on the pictures

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Beautiful grey green but needed at least 3 coats We used this colour in a sitting room, with little natural light. I painted over a pale cream and needed 3 coats (in fact, I added a 4th to be sure). Probably should have used the FB undercoat. Once complete, this is a beautiful calm grey green (not blue, as far as my eyes can tell), a shade or two lighter than Pigeon (another favourite). The colour seems very deep and calm.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great color Great color! Like I expected it’s more green than blue in my east facing kitchen. The color works well with the elephants breath on the Wallis and my cheap Ikea kitchen looks suddenly looks fabulous!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Wrong colour I am so disappointed. I tried a sample pot and the colour appeared to be perfect. Now it's on the wall it's more green than blue and the name of "Blue Gray" should be changed. I bought it for my bathroom to go with my tiles and it doesn't match at all.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exactly what I was hoping for I bought this colour for my front door which is south facing but sheltered by a porch. It’s the perfect soft green grey tone I was after, lovely and soft but with enough strength to be a definite colour. Also looks great against the red brick and silver hardware on the door. I’ve heard mixed reviews about F&B but I really enjoyed using it, the consistency was great, the colour is beautiful so I’m keen to use it again.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice colour but... Used on exterior masonry. Although the finished surfaces have the depth of colour one would associate with F&B, it took a lot of paint to achieve this result. In fairness, our painter had applied a sand & cement mix to fill in some weather-induced hairline cracks in the render, and I think expecting those lines to disappear after two coats was a little optimistic. However, in total, we purchased and used 25L of masonry paint instead of the 15L our painter had estimated we'd need originally. Some areas required four coats. It's safe to say our painter wasn't a fan of the paint and found applying it more problematic than other brands he'd used in the past. However, the finished surfaces look great and we're happy with the end result.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good finish achieved I painted our front door in the exterior eggshell finish. I did three coats (but could have got away with two after priming and undercoating) and still had plenty left in the 750ml tin. Very pleased with the quality and coverage, it was easy to get a good finish following the F&B instructions on how to paint a door. However, the colour is very definitely more green than blue.
