Ammonite

No.274

A naturally understated grey

Ammonite is named after the treasured fossils often found on the Dorset coast. It has a fantastically understated quality, and sits effortlessly with our Easy Neutrals. Neither too warm nor too cool, its subtle grey tone creates a hushed and calming feel in homes both old and new. Try pairing with All White to accent its light grey feel.

ECO-FRIENDLY AND CHILD-SAFE

Back in 2010, we moved our entire range to an eco-friendly water base that’s low odour, low VOC and child-safe, becoming the first in the industry to do so. Easy to clean without harmful solvents, in tins that can be recycled again and again, our paints help to reduce the environmental impact of redecorating your home.

QUALITY FINISHES

Every one of our 132 paint colours is available in a range of durable interior and exterior paint finishes, each rigorously tested to ensure an exceptional depth of colour and long-lasting finish. For the very best results, we always recommend using a Farrow & Ball Primer & Undercoat – see above for the correct tone for this colour.

SAFETY INFORMATION

All Farrow & Ball finishes except Limewash contain isothiazolinones, which may produce an allergic reaction. Farrow & Ball Limewash contains calcium hydroxide which can cause severe damage in contact with skin or eyes. Rated 5 out of 5 by from As always only the best from Farrow & Ball I have been buying Farrow & Ball paints since they first came to market and have never been disappointed either by the colour range nor quality and coverage, they are not the cheapest but there is the old adage you pay for what you get and quality doesn't come cheap. Would highly recommend them for any internal project.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful Soft Grey On the colour card this doesn't look grey. But on the walls it's a beautiful soft grey, warm, luxurious. Great against white coving.Painted the front room in this colour and it's a very calm tone. Colour looks perfect in bright sunshine or evening lamp light. Just had my sons room painted in this colour may paint the whole house in this colour eventually. Colour neutral goes with any furnishings.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bought our hall to life We painted our very small rather dark hallway and stairs in ammonite. The front door and glass panel face north and the small window at the top is south facing. Looking from north front door the colour looks pale violet, blending to light grey in the middle of the stairs. Looking up to the top of the staircase there is a definite green hue. It’s very subtle and brings the hallway to life. We like it and so far so do all our visitors. I feel it was a good choice and worth all the weeks of searching for the right colour. My husband said it was an easy paint to work with and it left no lingering smell.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good neutrel grey We painted our living room in ammonite with the chimney breast in worsted the colours complemented each other perfectly. I was concerned it would look too cold but actually looks quite cosy especially with mustard yellow accessories.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lovely calming colour Redecorating our Victorian house and the depth of colour in Farrow and Ball paint makes such a difference to the room. Used Ammonite on the walls and Purbeck Stone on the fireplace and ceiling. Love the results! The room changes with different lighting but always feels bright and relaxing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect pale grey We painted our lounge with this colour in July and I am so pleased with it. We have a small Victorian north facing lounge (it gets a bit of west and east light from the bay window. I didn't want to use a very dark grey as the room is so small. Because I was to pleased with it we decided to paint our bedroom in it - again a north facing room (no bay window) - I am so happy with it. It has actually warmed the room up. The two rooms had been painted in a very flat beige off white colour by the previous owners and always felt really dull and cold - using Ammonite has completely transformed them. I am now going to paint the hall and landing in this colour, and then our spare bedroom which is south facing - I am looking forward to seeing how it looks in a south facing room. We had only used F&B paints once before we did these two rooms and we are now completely converted. They are a pleasure to use and I can't believe how they pick up different tones throughout the day.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well worth it I opted for ammonite to paint three walls and the entire ceiling of my living room. It’s a lovely colour that has cream, grey and white angles. I liked it so much I then decided to paint the stairs, hall and landing of my house in it too!
