Whichever colourway you choose, our handcrafted wallpaper is always the greener option. It starts with rolls of high quality paper sourced from sustainable forests, continues with our small batch manufacturing and eco-friendly ingredients, and ends with a beautiful, durable, and 100% recyclable product.

Paint on Paper

All of the paper we use is sourced from sustainable forests and responsibly manufactured in small batches at our Dorset factory. When we print it, we do so with our own water based paints and no vinyl, making our wallpaper environmentally friendly from start to finish.

Farrow & Ball wallpaper paste is also formulated to minimise the waste from your project. Being sold in powder form means a longer shelf life and the ability to only mix what you need, while the concentrated formula means you can hang up to five rolls with a single recyclable tube.

Child Friendly

Because our papers are printed with our own low VOC, child safe paint, they’re held to the same extremely high standard, which means they’re certified safe for use in nurseries and children’s rooms, and in accordance with Toy Safety Standards.

As well as being child safe, the protective glaze that gives our wallpapers their finishing touch is childproof too. It ensures your wallpaper stays vibrant, durable, and free of marks, meaning it can be enjoyed for years to come.

Vegan Friendly

None of the paints we use to print our wallpapers, the glazes we use to protect them, or the paste we use to hang them, contain any animal derivatives. They’ve never been tested on animals, nor will they ever be, which means you can rest assured that you’re bringing your home to life with a proudly cruelty free product.

The fact that we source our paper from sustainable forests also means minimal disruption to the wildlife that calls them home.

Our Business

Our dedication to the environment doesn’t begin and end with the products we make – it’s also in the way we do business. Every year we continue to take steps to reduce the environmental impact of our day-to-day operations, including:

• Recycling 100% of the dry waste from our Dorset factory
• Recycling 97% of our liquid waste at our own water treatment facility, and working to get this to 100%
• Creating our cardboard packaging with 75% recycled material, a figure that’s increasing all the time
• Working with FSC® certified printers, who use FSC® certified paper, to produce our printed pieces, from colour cards and brochures to postcards and letters
• Complying with the Energy Saving Opportunity Scheme (ESOS) across all of our UK sites, and being audited by the Environmental Agency to ensure our compliance

Recognition

In the British Coatings Federation’s Coatings Care awards, we were named Best Improver in 2015, Overall Winner in 2016, and finalists in 2017 and 2018. These awards are judged on a range of key performance indicators including energy consumption, waste and recycling, and VOC emissions.

Our commitment to environmentally responsible practices has also been recognised by Certification ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management Systems Standard (Certificate number 25345/F/0001/UK/En), which recognises our enhanced performance, continued compliance, and achievement of ongoing environmental objectives. We’re proud to have been certified every year since 2005, and annual certification is one of our continuous improvement policies.

We’re also committed to helping our local businesses to achieve their environmental potential, and actively share our experiences and best practices with them.
