Dimity

No.2008

A very pale taupe

Dimity is named after the lightweight cotton fabric originally used to make ladies’ bustles, but which is now more commonly used for bedding. One of our Red Based Neutrals, this pale and subdued taupe is brimming with warmth and an unmatchable depth, making it perfect for elegant and understated hallways. It can be combined with All White and Pointing to read pinker, or with the darker Oxford Stone on woodwork for a slightly aged look and relaxed feel.

Recommended Primer & Undercoat: White & Light Tones

Complementary white: Pointing

Dimity is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 154.

Back in 2010, we moved our entire range to an eco-friendly water base that’s low odour, low VOC and child-safe, becoming the first in the industry to do so. Easy to clean without harmful solvents, in tins that can be recycled again and again, our paints help to reduce the environmental impact of redecorating your home.

QUALITY FINISHES

Every one of our paint colours is available in a range of durable interior and exterior paint finishes, each rigorously tested to ensure an exceptional depth of colour and long-lasting finish. For the very best results, we always recommend using a Farrow & Ball Primer & Undercoat – see above for the correct tone for this colour.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent quality paint Although I only purchased a sample tin the quality of the paint is excellent. Just one coat over existing colour covered well and the colour had depth.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lovely Finish I always buy Farrow & Ball paint simply because the high quality is consistent and using a Farrow & Ball paintbrush gives a lovely long lasting finish so you gain in the long run. Colours are a personal taste but I find that the information on the colour charts and website to be pretty accurate and helpful and certainly what finish to use where is a boon. If you hate cleaning paintbrushes this is the paint for you - I just blast the paintbrush with the garden hose - magic.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful colour I bought dimity for woodwork and ceiling in my vestibule to complement jitney on the walls and the wall paper. The eggshell paint is so easy to apply and only required 2 coats to cover the existing dark paint underneath. It has a pink undertone in certain lights. Would recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Even better than expected! Painters just finished our living room and we are thrilled! Used Dimity modern emulsion on walls and ceiling, and estate eggshell in woodwork. The room has windows facing east and west, and skylights facing south. I was a bit nervous about Dimity looking too pink but it is a warm, soft color — not pastel at all — and is simply beautiful complementing the stone fireplace surround and tile floor (see photos, our furniture is not yet arranged). We are very pleased with Farrow and Ball and our painters loved working with it too!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best paint ever! We painted our little North facing kitchen in Dimity with Joa's White on the units and Pointing on the ceiling. The colour is light but warm during the day and really cosy in the evening. Went on like a dream. Fantastic coverage. Wouldn't use any other paint again. We found out that Farrow and Ball can't be successfully colour matched so we're sticking with the real thing for the rest of the house. Freshly plastered walls, used watered down undercoat in Dimity Modern Emulsion followed by 2 coats of neat Dimity, as advised by F&B.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful Neutral Taupe (with a hint of pink) This red based taupe goes with pretty much anything. It does read slightly pink depending on the light. In our south-west facing living room it looks more cream/putty in the daylight and a very pale calamine/pale golden sand in artificial light. We’ve used quite bold colours with it which seems to work - Stone blue, Teal (similar to Vardo) and some purple artwork. It goes well with our dark brown leather sofas and gold mirror too. A very relaxing and pretty colour.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best For paint it seems expensive but really if you think about it, to spend a couple of hundred pounds to get the quality, finish and colour which one knows are going to be spot on and really perfect it must be worth it. It always IS.
