A dark and smoky green
A smoky green blue, this colour was popular in interiors during the late 19th century. It has an irresistibly inviting deepness and weathered familiarity when used in exterior situations, while evoking calm and serenity when used inside.
We’re dedicated to perfecting the art of paint. At our home in Dorset, we combine the finest ingredients, 75 years of experience and technical precision to help you create beautiful spaces that stay beautiful. Even in our colour rich paints, less than 8% of the tin is the colour. The other 92% is what creates the quality, depth and extraordinary response to light that transforms your home.
Paint is like coffee. The colour is the froth on the top, but it’s the quality of the rest of the cup that makes it taste good. – Richard Ball, Farrow & Ball Co-founder
We use twelve exclusive pigments, all specifically selected for their colour intensity. We take colour seriously, so naturally, we only accept the very best. By using these same pigments to make every colour in our palette, all our shades combine effortlessly, making it easy for you to put together a cohesive colour scheme.
Deeper, richer colours
Deeper, richer colours
Packed with pigment for an extraordinary response to every kind of light.
We add generous helpings of rich pigment to create our signature look – deep colours with complex undertones. The same space that feels bright and airy in morning sun, can feel cosy and intimate by evening. Our teams design each shade under every kind of light, so it will be perfectly balanced in every setting.
Extraordinary response to light
Extraordinary response to light
We spend months carefully crafting and testing each of our paint colours to make sure they share our signature extraordinary response to light. This beautiful reaction to changing light, like bringing out different undertones or shifting intensity, is what makes our paint so special.
Interior and exterior finishes
Interior and exterior finishes
From walls, floors and furniture to radiators, skirtings and sheds, our range of paint finishes can help you transform almost any surface in your home (and outside it, too).

A lovely shade of greenI bought this colour to tie in with the colour of a cabinet from Ikea. It's an excellent match and looks fantastic on my doors in an internal room, matched with Wimbourne White on the walls.

Living room makeoverWe’ve downsized to a new build & were unsure if f&b paint might be lost in our modern living room. We chose the modern emulsion finish in Green Smoke, we loved this colour but were slightly anxious it might be too bold a move, however from the onset we were smitten, the paint went on like a dream & the opulent shade of green has elevated our room. We’re delighted with the quality & effect of f&b and we’ve already started painting our bedroom with Calamine.

Deep smoky greenAfter much debate, we recently redid our north-eastern facing living room in Green Smoke (dead flat). I had looked at every single photo many, many times before choosing this shade. It's a little darker than I had anticipated, but I know during the summer months the natural light shift it will look different. Even with it being a bit darker, it's an entire vibe that elevates our living room to next-level moody. Trim was done in estate emulsion and it's the perfect addition to the walls.

Moody grey-greenWe recently repainted our living room in Deadflat, and it came out much moodier than anticipated (this isn't a bad thing!) Many of the photos I've seen of Green Smoke have definitely skewed more green than how it looks in our living room, undoubtedly due to the natural light available (our windows are north-east facing). Two coats went on like a dream, and we used estate emulsion for the trim. This is my third time using FB paint, and I'm still a very happy customer!

beautiful colour and amazing finishi absolutely love this colour and i love the new dead flat finish - it makes it so easy to colour drench the whole room including woodwork and radiator, so much less cutting in. and the finish is so hardy it’s difficult to wash it off your hands. i’ve always loved f&b colours and now finally there’s a hard wearing finish

New dead flat a success!Loved green smoke colour and the new dead flat! I was painting an old cupboard to contrast with our new kitchen. It goes on really well and i loved the finish. Although as it’s going to get a lot of wear I’ve put a coat of dead flat varnish on too. I’m doing a bookcase next!

Stunning and Cozy!I had a tough time trying to find the right green for my bedroom, as anything more olive-y ended up looking more muddy than a warm green. I spent a while trying to decide between Green Smoke and Calke Green because I wasn't super confident with how the sample colour looked. After reading through many of the reviews, I came across a couple saying that they took the risk with Green Smoke despite how the sample colour appeared. With that, I decided to do the same, and I couldn't be happier with how this room turned out! It's such a warm, cosy, and enveloping colour. The room is southwest facing, and Green Smoke works a treat! The photos show the colour in the early afternoon and evening light. I used modern emulsion on the walls and estate eggshell on the crown moulding and closet doors. I've paired it with Off-Black No.57 in estate eggshell on the door, skirting boards, and window frame.

Beautiful alluring colourVery happy with our choice of colour, after many, many samples. We’ve used it in our office, which is south facing. It’s astonishing how much the colour changes depending on how much light is apparent. It has a dark cosy feel to it on dull days, but when the sun is out it illuminates, casting its green and someone’s even blueish tones. We wrapped the room in it, walls, ceiling and even the floor, so it really is impactful.

Beautiful greenDecided on green smoke/schoolhouse white for our bedroom. Over the moon with the results. Paint went on easily with a smooth finish though though the schoolhouse white needed an additional coat to get the same finish.

Just perfect! It took me ages to pick a colour for our panelling. After lots of Instagram and Pinterest searches I decided on Green Smoke (with Shaded White above) and I'm so glad I did! It's beautiful with lots of depth like all F&B paints. We primed the wood beforehand and only used a quarter of the tin so I have plenty left for another project.
