Key features

Low sheen

Low sheen

The soft, low sheen satin finish of our Estate Eggshell subtly highlights interior wood and metal. 20% sheen.

Our deeper, richer colours are available in a range of finishes with different sheen levels. Sheen always affects how colour appears: the same shade in gloss can look very different in matt. That’s why we specifically adjust the formula for every finish to make sure the balance is exactly right and you get the colour you were expecting. Our colours and finishes are formulated together, so you simply can’t have one without the other.

100% water based

100% water based

We’re proud to have been the first in the industry to transition to a completely water based range back in 2010. As a result, all of our finishes, including our tough trim and floor paints, are made with a low-odour, low-VOC water base that scores A+ for indoor air quality.

Plus, our water based paint doesn’t discolour over time like solvent based paints can. So your spaces stay beautiful for longer.

Toy safe

Toy safe

This finish is independently tested and certified toy-safe in accordance with Safety of Toys Part 3: Migration of certain elements (EN 71-3:2019+A1:2021). That means you can and a splash of colour to toys, cribs and other surfaces little ones come into contact with. Our paints also have hardly any odour and don’t need any solvents to clean up, so you can breathe easy during application and beyond.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect colour The most perfect greige. Good quality paint. A little on the expensive side but worth paying that bit more for the perfect colour and finish.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Soothing, beautiful colour. Beautiful colour - as with all F&B paints, it takes on different shades throughout the day. We teamed with Oval room Blue and even my husband said 'oh yes, looks lovely, should have done it years ago!!' It comes out creamy colour but, looks a very light grey against the blue and white in some lights. Easy to apply, highly recommend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wouldn’t use any other brand Excellent service as always. Initial sample held up with courier but F&B resent without question.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I Love Love Love the Colour! Decided on the spare of the moment to redecorate the spare room which had been turned into a dumping ground .. I chose F&B Ammonite to give it a relaxing cozy vibe and I’m thrilled! all I need now is my new carpet to arrive and I can finish the room 😁

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lovely colour, beautiful finish The colour and finish looks absolutely stunning on the wall. The only gripes I have are that the paint can itself was very, very dented which made the open can somewhat precarious, and that even with the recommended primer it required 3 coats for full coverage.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So pleased I bought about 6 different samples and in the end opted for Ammonite, I wasn’t to sure as it was going on but once it was finished I was really pleased with it the quality and the colour are perfect and it matched either white black or wood. We did the whole house in it…. We are really pleased with it…

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Modern Emulsion is amazing! I just finished painting our powder room with ammonite in modern emulsion, and I am thrilled with the result. I couldn’t get a smooth finish with the roller I had so I used the Farrow and Ball brushes. I used the 4” brush to apply the undercoat and primer and it left some brush marks so I used the 1” slanted brush for the actual painting and it was able to leave a really smooth finish! I lost a few bristles at first but then didn’t lose any more for the r rest of the job. This paint brush worked so well I didn’t mind losing a few bristles. Two coats of paint was enough with some retouching in a few places where there had been border on the walls. Ammonite is a lovely color. I am so pleased. Also, I have lots of paint leftover for another room. This bathroom is east facing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth every penny! Farrow and ball was my obvious choice when needing to paint my bedroom floorboards. They were in a poor state! I chose Ammonite modern, which shows itself as a white with a hint of grey. It went on like a dream! And only needed one coat. Yes it’s more expensive, but the quality is top rate.. it goes further, so in the end it saves me money. Very pleased with the result.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Subtle, elegant soft gray I painted my bedroom walls with Ammonite to bring a bit of softness and elegance to rooms that had boring white walls when I moved in. As a result the rooms no longer feel like cookie-cutter apartment bedrooms; they feel a bit more elevated in style, lived in, and inviting. Note that the effect of this paint is subtle. In certain light, it almost looks like white, and you might only notice the color if you have pure white trims and ceilings like I do. If you'd like a more pronounced gray, I would recommend the darker grays in the Relaxed Neutrals group (Cornforth White and Purbeck Stone). The room in the photo is east-facing and was photographed in diffuse afternoon light.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ammonite Ammonite is such a beautiful colour. It also reflects the light and works beautifully with pops of colour

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Blue shade After a lot of thought and sample pots we chose Ammonite for our hall. It looks well and is smart, but much to my disappointment at the brighter end of the hall it is pale blue which I cannot understand. Towards the back of the hall the colour is much more grey and what I was looking for. After several weeks I'm getting used to it but the shade hadn't changed!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from As above Paints good, but l’d had a same first before buying a large can as the colour was to dark for what I had wanted, so wasted money, so hopefully I not do that again

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Sample is white Not happy with this color unfortunately. It is basically a very light off-white paint and I wanted something like the web swatch. I only bought the sample so I’m glad I didn’t get a full can. The consistency is really nice though. The paint went on cardboard for a larger swatch very easily.
