If the past couple of years have taught us anything (besides how many of our friends have been hiding their baking talents from us all this time) it’s the importance of home – not just how it looks, but how you feel when you’re there.
That’s why, if you’re planning a decorating project right now, our water based formulas are the way to go – and the best part is, it’s not just about what goes into the (infinitely recyclable) tin.
Keep reading below for more on what makes our paint an all-round great choice if you’re looking to reduce the impact of your home makeover on the environment.
Our paint is far from a newcomer to the green scene. Back in 2009, we were the first in our industry to start making the switch to a 100% water based paint range.
A completely water based range has quite a few planet-friendly benefits. Water based paints promote considerably better air quality than solvent based paints (in fact, all our paints have the top rating of A+ from the French Indoor Air Quality Decree) and contribute significantly less to air pollution.
Plus, they’re easier to clean from brushes and rollers using just water. That means there’s no need for solvents in the form of harsh brush cleaners.
When we make our paint, we’re thinking about the future of your home as well as the future of the planet, which is why our rich colours are made to last as long as possible. That means less work for you in the long run, and fewer resources used on new paint.

Playing it Safe
The low levels of VOCs (volatile organic compounds) in our paint minimise both its impact on the planet and its impact on you at home.
When VOCs are exposed to sunlight, they can react with nitrogen oxides to create pollution-causing ground-level ozone and photochemical smog, so the fewer the better when it comes to preserving air quality.
Choosing a low-VOC paint is also better for you and anyone you share your home with.
VOCs are usually the culprits behind those strong-smelling fumes often associated with solvent based paint, so with every finish in our range being officially classified as Low or Minimal VOC, you won’t have to worry about sleeping in your newly painted room, or keep the windows open for days on end.
Our journey towards improving the sustainability of products and processes starts long before our paint makes it to your doorstep.
Every step of the way, we’re thinking about what we can do to minimise our impact on the planet, whether that’s crafting our shopping bags from recycled and recyclable materials, ensuring that 100% of our dry waste is recycled or converted into biofuel, or constantly working to reduce our energy consumption.
Even our iconic tin is a marker of our commitment to treading lightly. We choose to always use metal packaging – not just because that’s the way we’ve always done it, but because it can be recycled forever without any loss of quality.
