Mouse's Back is a restrained traditional colour, drawing from tones originally used in the utility areas of historic houses. It’s been an absolute favourite in homes ever since its launch. With a return to the spirit of artisan craft, these heritage colours feel very restorative and this grey brown classic is quiet in its nature and totally timeless.

"I always think there's something special about a room where nothing is shouting," says Joa Studholme, Colour Curator at Farrow & Ball. "Mouse's Back works because it doesn’t beg for attention but rather works as a backdrop, letting the things you want to feature take centre stage.”

A Restrained Scheme

Mouse’s Back is “a hushed colour, perfect as a dark accent with our Traditional Neutrals like Lime White, Off-White and Old White.”

A Dramatic Scheme

“If you’re looking for colour…pair Mouse’s Back with wonderful Marmelo and Reduced Green on the floor.”
