As luck would have it, our friends at The Rug Company have plenty of experience in that department, having made their name creating luxurious handloom rugs with ancient artisanal techniques and the finest natural materials.
To make it even easier to create a top-to-bottom look you love, we’ve joined forces with The Rug Company to create The Complementary Colour Collection. The collection pairs one accent and one neutral rug colour with each of our Neutral Groups, creating ready-to-use schemes to suit all kinds of homes.
Traditional Neutrals
Our Traditional Neutrals are characterised by their grey-green undertones, which add a softened, lived-in feel to any space. Their neutral counterpart is Holland Stone, a warm and sophisticated grey inspired by the Holland Park area of Central London that The Rug Company calls home. Accent colour Lots Blue also takes its name from the capital – this muted tone is named after Lots Road in Chelsea, site of the company’s very first showroom.
Contemporary Neutrals
For an on-trend monochromatic approach with our Contemporary Neutrals, try Sam’s Stone. With the same warm grey tone as Strong White, Skimming Stone and Elephant’s Breath, it creates a plush layered look by mirroring the wall colour while introducing a different texture. Or, for an accent colour that matches the delicacy of these pale tones, try blush-coloured Portland Pink.
Yellow Based Neutrals
For our light and creamy Yellow Based Neutrals, only the most welcoming tones will do. For a refined tone-on-tone look, try traditional beige Clarendon, the warmest neutral in the collection. Or, for a rich and luxurious look, opt for the sumptuous Keepers Red – taking its name from Keepers Cottage, a cosy redbrick abode near our home in Dorset, it couldn’t be more in-keeping with this group’s rural roots.
Red Based Neutrals
Our Red Based Neutrals look equally at home in classic, modern, or contemporary schemes, and their rug counterparts have the same appeal. Princedale Pale sits effortlessly in a Scandi-style interior layered with natural materials like leather, linen or stone, while Kent Green, inspired by the Garden of England, looks right at home in more traditional schemes.
Easy Neutrals
Our Easy Neutrals are neither too warm nor too cool, making them incredibly easy to combine and suited to a wide range of different palettes. For a tonal approach, try the moody Order Grey; for a sunny statement, make it Melrose Yellow.

Architectural Neutrals
Striking yet easy to use, our final group of neutrals is especially suitable for large open-plan spaces and industrial schemes. For the perfect softening accompaniment to our Architectural Neutrals, look no further than Wizlet and Wooster. The cool, pale, almost-blue of Wizlet creates a clean and minimal look, while darker blue Wooster adds strength and colour to otherwise neutral rooms.
