Knotty primer
This primer is thin. It will take 3-4 coats to fully cover any Knott's such a pine. Be sure to lightly sand before painting for a smoother surface.
I dont like that when I taped off a section the primer came off when I took off the tape. The primer had been on for two weeks before doing this.

Best knotting and primer I've used
Farrow and Ball knotting and primer solution is the best I've ever used. When I bought my house there were a lot of bare wooden pine doors and skirting, so when I wanted to paint them white the research said I would need a knotting solution to stop them bleeding through the paint. I've tried a few other brands before Farrow and Ball and they've all fallen short and bled through. I tried F&b on my bathroom floor and door and a year later there are still no signs of bleed through. I've since painted a pine bed frame and door and again brilliant results. It goes on perfectly, dries pink and has no smell and a tin lasts for ages. Well worth the price. I've since bought another tin to do all my other doors.

Pure genius
We paint stripped all the joinery on the front of our mid 18th century home back to bare wood. Had rotten oak (including a finial) repaired or replaced and new sills put on/in. And started again - I used three thin coats of this product on everything (4 on the new oak). Then three coats of undercoat/primer. Then three coats of Top coat (in Pointing exterior eggshell). This was 2010. South facing. Heat trap in summer and rural enough for hard frosts and icicles from the eaves in winter. This year is the first time Any of the joinery has needed a little bit of light sanding and repainting - just here and there.
Am currently working my way through the north side windows that I did a rush job on a decade ago using a different brand surface primer (had used F&B paints for years - but I don't even know if this F&B wood knot/resin blocker was around then?). Going back to bare or or well sanded back surface this time and it's this product that is going on first. Same number of coats of everything.
I probably don't need so many but given the outcome on the other side it can't hurt.
I think this product is pure genius.

Good base coat
Having inherited a garage door, which oozed sticky resin, we were on the verge of burning off the paint etc. However, as I use Farrow and Ball paint inside the property, I decided to check out this problem and the fact sheet gave us all the information we needed to get the ideal finish to our door. A sanding down of the door was all we needed to do. The product is very good and instead of just covering the areas of knotting and resin eruption, we did the whole door. Wonderful conclusion to a unsightly problem.

Simple and effective
This product was easy to use and the pink colour, when dry, made it very easy to ensure coverage when applying the light tones undercoat.
