Estate Emulsion

A typical Soanian or Regency colour, this cheerful yellow really does make your room feel full of sunlight.

Estate Emulsion is a classic choice for low-traffic interior walls and ceilings. Very matt with a distinctive, chalky finish, it minimises imperfections and creates a beautiful depth of colour.

Key features

Very matt

Very matt

Estate Emulsion is a very matt finish with a chalky 2% sheen.

Our deeper, richer colours are available in a range of finishes with different sheen levels. Sheen always affects how colour appears: the same shade in gloss can look very different in matt. That’s why we specifically adjust the formula for every finish to make sure the balance is exactly right and you get the colour you were expecting. Our colours and finishes are formulated together, so you simply can’t have one without the other.

Classic, chalky look

Classic, chalky look

A true classic, Estate Emulsion is a distinctive, chalky finish that minimises imperfections and creates beautiful depth of colour. Due to this unique texture, it’s best suited to less-busy areas without a lot of traffic.

For walls and ceilings in low-traffic areas

For walls and ceilings in low-traffic areas

Estate Emulsion is our classic finish for interior walls and ceilings in low-traffic areas. Gently wipeable but not washable.

From walls, floors and furniture to radiators, skirtings and sheds, our range of paint finishes can help you transform almost any surface in your home (and outside it, too). Browse our full selection of finishes to find the perfect paint for your project.

100% water based

100% water based

We’re proud to have been the first in the industry to transition to a completely water based range back in 2010. As a result, all of our finishes, including our tough trim and floor paints, are made with a low-odour, low-VOC water base that scores A+ for indoor air quality.
Plus, our water based paint doesn’t discolour over time like solvent based paints can. So your spaces stay beautiful for longer.

Toy safe

Toy safe

This finish is independently tested and certified toy-safe in accordance with Safety of Toys Part 3: Migration of certain elements (EN 71-3:2019+A1:2021). That means you can and a splash of colour to toys, cribs and other surfaces little ones come into contact with. Our paints also have hardly any odour and don’t need any solvents to clean up, so you can breathe easy during application and beyond.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Paint We got the paint and I was astonished. When we painted it, it turned out to be a beige sort of colour, but it eventually became a beautiful, glamorous, glowing yellow. Never thought you could get such a good paint. When we painted it was very rich and a lovely texture. It was perfect to work with. It didn't smell much at all and dried quickly. We didn't put the primer because we thought we didn't need it, and even without it looked so beautiful! Even after putting the first coat out of two (I also think it's great that you only have to put 2 coats) it looked great! Even in the dark! It was our first paint and I find that F&B's paint is simply perfect for both beginners and the experienced. The name totally suits, and I can't wait to buy from them again for future walls!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from LET THE SUN SHINE! Delightful color and easy to apply-smooth and drip free. Consistently warm and cheerful. Not TOO bright, but very uplifting for the 2:30 AM rise time of this household. Makes the room look much more spacious and nicely complements the southwestern theme of the space.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Dayroom yellow sample pot Just by using this small sample pot, I can see the beautiful depth of colour. When dried, the paint has a nice feel to it, almost silky smooth, even though it is a matt paint. !

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Success - Dead Flat Dayroom Yellow Coverage was great on all the surfaces, went on like a dream, dried quickly. Despite my family’s initial reservations around overall effect and ongoing comments around cost, I am loving my colour drenched room and they are having to concede that it looks good! 😊

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Paint I have used many F&B paints and I have to say, I'm never disappointed! The photos online don't do this color justice. It's rich and warm while also soft and not too bright. We used it on our baseboards and window trim and couldn't be happier.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Harry Potter Purchased Dayroom yellow to be part of a Harry Potter themed room.It has worked well with incarnadine and kittiwake, with wine dark on woodwork. Only used this on one wall so plenty left over and more than enough to touch up any scuffs. Won’t use all this tin but I don’t mind as my daughter is happy with the end result. Beautiful paint to use. Farrow and ball paint is the only brand I’ll use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pure sunshine My favourite colour in the house. Painted my small south-facing bathroom this colour, both on the walls and ceilings and inside of the door. It gives it a bright and cheery feel without being silly or too much. Everyone raised their eyebrows at my idea of a yellow bathroom, and yet every single person who saw it afterwards have been really impressed. Vindication!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Another quality paint It was time to update the exterior door. This was one of several samples I purchased and I’m really pleased with the results. My house just looks so happy! As usual the paint was easy to apply and didn’t cause me any issues.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Definitely not pale yellow We have grown used to the colour and green to like it , but it is quite definitely not pale yellow. Pale was what I was looking for to decorate a small cloakroom and this was a huge shock , we felt we should hang sunglasses on the door handle for visitors. It is, when on the wall, very bright and a vibrant , in your face, daffodil yellow. We have used it in a very small space , I am sure it would b3 better in a larger room
