A lively green

For an upbeat space, try this lively green. A lighter version of Breakfast Room Green, Whirlybird is inspired by the papery winged seeds beloved by many playful young gardeners and nature lovers. It looks particularly lively in morning light and is complemented by Beverly and James White.

The finest ingredients

The finest ingredients

We’re dedicated to perfecting the art of paint. At our home in Dorset, we combine the finest ingredients, 75 years of experience and technical precision to help you create beautiful spaces that stay beautiful. Even in our colour rich paints, less than 8% of the tin is the colour. The other 92% is what creates the quality, depth and extraordinary response to light that transforms your home.

Paint is like coffee. The colour is the froth on the top, but it’s the quality of the rest of the cup that makes it taste good.
– Richard Ball, Farrow & Ball Co-founder

We use twelve exclusive pigments, all specifically selected for their colour intensity. We take colour seriously, so naturally, we only accept the very best. By using these same pigments to make every colour in our palette, all our shades combine effortlessly, making it easy for you to put together a cohesive colour scheme.

Deeper, richer colours

Deeper, richer colours

Packed with pigment for an extraordinary response to every kind of light.

We add generous helpings of rich pigment to create our signature look – deep colours with complex undertones. The same space that feels bright and airy in morning sun, can feel cosy and intimate by evening. Our teams design each shade under every kind of light, so it will be perfectly balanced in every setting.

Extraordinary response to light

Extraordinary response to light

We spend months carefully crafting and testing each of our paint colours to make sure they share our signature extraordinary response to light. This beautiful reaction to changing light, like bringing out different undertones or shifting intensity, is what makes our paint so special.

Interior and exterior finishes

Interior and exterior finishes

From walls, floors and furniture to radiators, skirtings and sheds, our range of paint finishes can help you transform almost any surface in your home (and outside it, too).

Our comprehensive range is comprised of paint finishes that not only look beautiful, but offer different practical benefits. Designed for a variety of different surfaces, each finish is compatible with our high-performance Primers & Undercoats to ensure exceptional coverage, adhesion and depth of colour.

Green Paint Schemes

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just amazing! We had three walls painted in our living room and this green is just perfect. Weather too cold nor too warm, it‘s simply beautiful and adapts perfectly to the rest of the room. We’re very happy, thank you!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The perfect green Just the loveliest, creamiest light green. The shade is not sickly, nor minty, nor olivey, nor washed-out. Light and rich at the same time, like a pistachio ice cream.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lovely soft green Lovely soft green and dead flat. Quick delivery! Great product

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful shade of green I have painted some of my kitchen cupboards in Whirlybird with the remaining cupboards in James White. The Whirlybird creates an upbeat, springtime feel. Love it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lovely! Used for a dark utility room/toilet - really pretty and fresh! Received lots of compliments from visitors, which is always the test.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic color for North West facing roof dormer After months of decision process and lots of color samples - we finally found the perfect shade. We had a light, positive, calm atmosphere in mind and didn’t want to use anything too neutral. We wanted to achieve a windy, light positive room which felt like a winter garden from the 1920ies. Unfortunately all the colors I liked, didn’t look nice at all. - the yellow greens like cooking apple green and Ball Green looked muddy, green ground seemed nice, but a bit hesistant. Too less a statement. It took forever. All elegant bluish greens or greenish blues looked to cool or just dull grey. Frenchgrey looked horrible. So we went for whirlybird, which I feared may look a bit like Playground…. I am stunned how fantastic it is! I didn’t expect to be that happy. Such a beautiful room now.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful clean, fresh green Have just painted our small North facing study in this colour after months of deliberation and many paint samples. Am thrilled with how it looks, clean and not drab at all, even in a room with not much natural light. Really pleased with this new F&B colour.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful kitchen colour I bought this along with kittiwake and eddy, having tried them on the wall in the kitchen I can’t say I liked any of them. However my wife liked whirlybird so that’s what I painted, having got 2 coats of whirlybird modern emulsion on the wall I think it looks stunning

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Very yellow/beige undertones IRL I bought Whirlybird, Breakfast Room Green and Folly Green to try out and I had high hopes for Whirlybird, but was disappointed to see how yellow it reads IRL. May actually try the mint color from the Kelly Wearstler collection before giving up on my pale green dreams and moving onto another tone. In this photo, the colors are in the order stated above from top to bottom (and, yes, I used two coats of paint and the right undercoat for each.)
