Pitch Blue

No.220

A lively cobalt blue

This strong cobalt blue, with its dose of black pigment, takes its name from the dark sticky tar often used in roofing. Pitch Blue has an almost purple feel to it and is extremely lively in south facing rooms, especially when contrasted with bright shades such as All White. However, it looks more sober and rich when used in areas deprived of light or those lit in the evening by candles.

Recommended Primer & Undercoat: Dark Tones

Complementary white: Blackened

Pitch Blue is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 34.

ECO-FRIENDLY AND CHILD-SAFE

Back in 2010, we moved our entire range to an eco-friendly water base that’s low odour, low VOC and child-safe, becoming the first in the industry to do so. Easy to clean without harmful solvents, in tins that can be recycled again and again, our paints help to reduce the environmental impact of redecorating your home.

QUALITY FINISHES

Every one of our 132 paint colours is available in a range of durable interior and exterior paint finishes, each rigorously tested to ensure an exceptional depth of colour and long-lasting finish. For the very best results, we always recommend using a Farrow & Ball Primer & Undercoat – see above for the correct tone for this colour.

SAFETY INFORMATION

All Farrow & Ball finishes except Limewash contain isothiazolinones, which may produce an allergic reaction. Farrow & Ball Limewash contains calcium hydroxide which can cause severe damage in contact with skin or eyes. Customer Reviews
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lovely colour Although it took three coats, pitch blue looks perfect with Ammonite to make my little boys space themed bedroom. It's a strong colour but doesn't look too dark in the small space.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Definitely lilac rather than blue... Painted front door with this and quickly regretted it, neighbours even commented on it...negatively! Very much a lilac/violet fairly garish colour.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from “An almost purple feel to it” - it’s as purple as the Milka chocolate bar wrapper I had bought this to gloss an old wooden rocking chair, I had hoped for a deeply pigmented rich sophisticated blue/subtle purple hue that highlighted my exquisite taste and fashion-forward interior design. Sadly what I got was a garish 1980’s style purple that almost exactly matches the colour of a Milka chocolate bar wrapper. Needless to say this wasn’t what I had in mind for my country house, and I dare say I could have achieved this naf colour with Dulux for a fraction of the price. The quality of the dark tones undercoat and paint itself is absolutley acceptable but the colour itself is nothing short of Mr Joe Average.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent value This product is lovely true to colour eashto use & a great finish will definitely be getting more when we do our other rooms

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love the colour but Colour is fantastic, the only problem it needs 3 coats, which is ok if you're prepared to do that as the result is great. The downside is that you can't buy small tins of paint i.e 750ml. Now I have a nearly full tin of spare paint. The other colour paints I have used throughout the cottage have all been F&B and all have taken the normal 2 coats of paint. The colour works well with slipper satin. Cotswold Mottisfont bedroom furniture and Bluebellgray bed linen.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Loved the colour As ever - an excellent and distinctive product. We shall always rate your range as 5 star, I am sure. However, I do wonder how much business - and perhaps more importantly - how many new users you miss because of the immense difficulty in accessing small pots of your product. I imagine more than you can conceive. Don't you usually want to dip your toe into the water of new (product) experience before you commit? In this case we needed the colour quickly - you only had 2.5 litre containers. It has done a superb job in finishing off a funky bathroom. Far exceeded our expectations. We paid £65 for 2.5 litres - we now probably have enough left to pull off the same clever trick for another 125 similar bathrooms. Such a waste. We'd probably have paid £50 (we are suckers) for 1lt - do the math on that! NOT environmentally chic is it, really?
