A strong blue grey

This cosy and nostalgic blue grey is named after the colour of the bird often sighted around the London landscape. Softer and bluer than more contemporary grey shades like Mole's Breath, Pigeon is particularly suited for use in boot rooms, cloakrooms or darker spaces like studies and panelled rooms. It is also incredibly popular on kitchen islands with the more delicate Dimpse on units.

Recommended Primer & Undercoat: Mid Tones

Complementary white: Shaded White

Back in 2010, we moved our entire range to an eco-friendly water base that’s low odour, low VOC and child-safe, becoming the first in the industry to do so. Easy to clean without harmful solvents, in tins that can be recycled again and again, our paints help to reduce the environmental impact of redecorating your home.

Every one of our paint colours is available in a range of durable interior and exterior paint finishes, each rigorously tested to ensure an exceptional depth of colour and long-lasting finish. For the very best results, we always recommend using a Farrow & Ball Primer & Undercoat – see above for the correct tone for this colour.

All Farrow & Ball finishes except Limewash contain isothiazolinones, which may produce an allergic reaction. Farrow & Ball Limewash contains calcium hydroxide which can cause severe damage in contact with skin or eyes. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just what we wanted Used Pigeon modern eggshell to paint our kitchen chairs. Recently having painted the wall in pigeon modern emulsion, painted chairs in same colour to match. Chairs previously pained in lighter shade of Mizzle. Used one coat of mid tones undercoat and three coats of modern eggshell top coat. Chairs much lighter than walls following first coat, better match and acceptable coverage after second coat. However applying the third coat really made a difference, increased dept of colour, and really finishes the chairs off. Better match to walls. I have found in practice if not careful Iam slightly more inclined to get runs with modern eggshell than when using estate eggshell, however that could just be personal to me. As this paint dries quickly any touching up needs to be done in haste otherwise you can get brush marks. Overall very pleased with results.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stunning colour I bought this colour in the hope that it would complement my other two walls which I had painted in Mizzle. I was really unsure whether I was doing the right thing but I'm so pleased I went for it...the result is amazing, and both colours have worked wonderfully with Wimborne White on my fireplace and woodwork.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Warm Contemporary Colour. Working our through redecorating many rooms in the house. Just finished decorating our North Easterly facing sitting room in Shaded White and South Westerly dinning room in Chromarty. Used Pigeon in the kitchen, previously painted in lighter shade of Mizzle. Was a little apprehensive that the pigeon would be too dark, but not at all. The pigeon brings a lovely dept of colour and warmth to the room. Dosen’t feel dark at all. Our kitchen gets the sun from morning through to late afternoon. Colour in this room looks mostly green/grey with only the slightest hint of blue in certain light. Easy to use no splattering from roller. Covered well with two coats. Used pointing on wood work and ceiling. Now in process of choosing a complementary colour to bring our kitchen units up to date. Match pots on order.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lovely colour- great appplication Been a fan of F&B paints for yers. Decided to refurbish old oak kitchen doors whilst redoing utility room. Fab colour, very good coverage and went on very well. These water based paints are a delight to use. Used microfibre mini rollers and layered out with brush when/if required.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful finish! I’ve always loved this colour and finally got round to using it in my new house. It was my first Farrow and Ball paint and it won’t be the last. The texture and appearance of the walls are beautiful, we can’t stop looking at them and we have already had loads of compliments. Farrow and Ball paint is different to regular paint, it just is. I love the quality and I love the colour choice. Very very happy.
