A strong blue grey

This cosy and nostalgic blue grey is named after the colour of the bird often sighted around the London landscape. Softer and bluer than more contemporary grey shades like Mole's Breath, Pigeon is particularly suited for use in boot rooms, cloakrooms or darker spaces like studies and panelled rooms. It is also incredibly popular on kitchen islands with the more delicate Dimpse on units.

Recommended Primer & Undercoat: Mid Tones

Complementary white: Shaded White

Back in 2010, we moved our entire range to an eco-friendly water base that’s low odour, low VOC and child-safe, becoming the first in the industry to do so. Easy to clean without harmful solvents, in tins that can be recycled again and again, our paints help to reduce the environmental impact of redecorating your home.

Every one of our paint colours is available in a range of durable interior and exterior paint finishes, each rigorously tested to ensure an exceptional depth of colour and long-lasting finish. For the very best results, we always recommend using a Farrow & Ball Primer & Undercoat – see above for the correct tone for this colour.

All Farrow & Ball finishes except Limewash contain isothiazolinones, which may produce an allergic reaction. Farrow & Ball Limewash contains calcium hydroxide which can cause severe damage in contact with skin or eyes. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful colour I’ve teamed Pigeon with Shaded White in my living room as suggested by F and B. The room is split level and I wanted to zone the 2 halves. The colours work perfectly together. Pigeon is very cosy, but not too dark or overpowering. I think it is more blue-grey, than green-grey. Love the Shaded White too!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lovely colour Was just redoing the front and back doors, and the paint had worn really well, and we loved the colour so just repainted the doors.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Like all colours; this is a great one too! I bought this colour only as a tester but ended up painting candlesticks, a candelabra and two bowls. All in time forChristmas

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lovely shade I bought this for a sunny bright bedroom. I was keen to use a dramatic colour but they were mostly too dark. This was just the right shade not too dark and yet quite a definite colour.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just what we wanted Used Pigeon modern eggshell to paint our kitchen chairs. Recently having painted the wall in pigeon modern emulsion, painted chairs in same colour to match. Chairs previously pained in lighter shade of Mizzle. Used one coat of mid tones undercoat and three coats of modern eggshell top coat. Chairs much lighter than walls following first coat, better match and acceptable coverage after second coat. However applying the third coat really made a difference, increased dept of colour, and really finishes the chairs off. Better match to walls. I have found in practice if not careful Iam slightly more inclined to get runs with modern eggshell than when using estate eggshell, however that could just be personal to me. As this paint dries quickly any touching up needs to be done in haste otherwise you can get brush marks. Overall very pleased with results.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stunning colour I bought this colour in the hope that it would complement my other two walls which I had painted in Mizzle. I was really unsure whether I was doing the right thing but I'm so pleased I went for it...the result is amazing, and both colours have worked wonderfully with Wimborne White on my fireplace and woodwork.
