Parma Gray

A cool mid blue

Reading as a cool blue, Parma Gray is another colour attributed to the great colourist John Fowler. Used as the backdrop to numerous costume dramas, it creates the perfect period feel when contrasted with Wimborne White. Though its cool nature can feel quite formal when contrasted with a bright white, it is a firm favourite for those who prefer a clean and crisp finish.

Recommended Primer & Undercoat: Mid Tones

Complementary white: Wimborne White

Back in 2010, we moved our entire range to an eco-friendly water base that’s low odour, low VOC and child-safe, becoming the first in the industry to do so. Easy to clean without harmful solvents, in tins that can be recycled again and again, our paints help to reduce the environmental impact of redecorating your home.

Every one of our paint colours is available in a range of durable interior and exterior paint finishes, each rigorously tested to ensure an exceptional depth of colour and long-lasting finish. For the very best results, we always recommend using a Farrow & Ball Primer & Undercoat – see above for the correct tone for this colour.

All Farrow & Ball finishes except Limewash contain isothiazolinones, which may produce an allergic reaction. Farrow & Ball Limewash contains calcium hydroxide which can cause severe damage in contact with skin or eyes. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Parma gray We have used Parma Gray to paint our hall, stairs and landing. It looks fantastic. The paint went on well and covered in 2 coats. Would highly recommend Farrow and Ball modern emulsion we are pleased with the quality of the paint and it has saved us money as we would have spent more on cheaper paints needing to apply more coats.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love the colour I bought this paint for my kitchen cupboards. It took 3 coats but it has a lovely sheen and has made the cupboards look brand new. Also no headachy smell.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Modern colour ... modern technology... modern emu! On top of old emulsion and bare plaster. Medium tone primer ... 2 coats followed by 2 coats of undiluted Modern Emulsion ... never had an easier paint to apply for a real depth of colour.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it! Delighted with the colour but in my room, despite the name, more blue than grey. That's what I wanted but proof that you have to test the colour first.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for kitchen cabinets Deliberated on colours for ages..worried Parma Grey would be too blue. Decided to go with it and it is more of a blue than a grey but we love that it's something different and brings a fresh crisp feeling to our kitchen. Paired with Blackened on top cabinets. Paint is a dream to work with...used primer and at least 2 coats, 3 in some areas. New kitchen feel for a fraction of the price very happy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good colour. This is an absolutely beautiful blue/grey colour. Not too dark and perfect as a feature wall, complimenting my white walls and furniture. Highly recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing paint First time using Farrow and ball paint. It’s a great paint with a high pigment of colour. Three coats of paint gives a wonderful tough finish on woodwork. I would highly recommend, it’s well worth it’s price.
