A relaxed brown based neutral

This earthy colour sits somewhere between the more traditional Oxford Stone and greyer Elephant's Breath. Though muted, it is incredibly uplifting and reminds us of lazy days by the sea - hence sharing its name with the bus that whisks New Yorkers out of the hot city to the similarly coloured sandy beaches of the Hamptons.

Recommended Primer & Undercoat: Mid Tones

Complementary white: Dimity

Back in 2010, we moved our entire range to an eco-friendly water base that’s low odour, low VOC and child-safe, becoming the first in the industry to do so. Easy to clean without harmful solvents, in tins that can be recycled again and again, our paints help to reduce the environmental impact of redecorating your home.

Every one of our paint colours is available in a range of durable interior and exterior paint finishes, each rigorously tested to ensure an exceptional depth of colour and long-lasting finish. For the very best results, we always recommend using a Farrow & Ball Primer & Undercoat – see above for the correct tone for this colour.

All Farrow & Ball finishes except Limewash contain isothiazolinones, which may produce an allergic reaction. Farrow & Ball Limewash contains calcium hydroxide which can cause severe damage in contact with skin or eyes. Rated 5 out of 5 by from My new paint of choice! Jitney is a gorgeous colour which pairs very well with everything I love… white, gold gilded frames and green. I was told that those who use Farrow and Ball paint don't like to use anything else... now I understand why. It is silky smooth and leaves no trace of how it was applied… it just becomes part of the wall.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great paint! Super fast service and delivery, paint is lovely and enough in the tester pot to do a good size area to see the effect.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lovely Colour I was looking for an impressive but not too strong a colour for the living room.Jitney is my final choice as it is both full of character and mellow.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A warm muddy grey Did a sitting room in this colour, was quite nervous. Looks stunning with white shutters and white (beamed) ceiling. It's a strong colour but not over powering because ultimately it's a neutral. Looks fab with blue/turquoise sofas.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Rich colour that changes throughout the day Painted our south facing master bedroom this colour and it looks fantastic, a warm rich colour that makes a statement no matter the time of day

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Gorgeous colour We used this in a south facing bedroom and I'm in love. The colour changes with the time of day and the quality of light but its never less than beautiful. Occasionally it seems almost greyish; sometimes, in poorer light, a bit caramel. But on the whole, it's a gorgeous milky taupe-- like drinking chocolate. It works with old wood as well as with white and I'm thrilled with it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Landing & Hallway Finally a colour we wanted! Tried Dimity ( too pink ) and Matchstick ( too caramel ) this colour was perfect in our 1900 home with its wood floor hallway and landing. Warm, relaxed and paired perfectly with Strong White and All White. Was worried it would make the areas appear dark but it doesn’t at all.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The most amazing colour I have been after a colour for our hall for a long time which doesn’t get much light and wanted it to complement an old Victorian tiled floor and wallpaper but every colour I had tried wasn’t right until I tried this colour. It’s warm and uplifting and modern and perfect in any light. I love it.
