A dark blue grey

This aged blue grey is inspired by the naturally dramatic Scottish skies that act as a backdrop for the classic Georgian Inchyra House. It can be found on the exterior doors of their very impressive byre or barn which nestles at the bottom of a rather grey and imposing brae (also known as a hill). Such is the magic of our colours, this moody hue can read more grey, blue or even green depending on the light. A great alternative to charcoal, use it to inject a hint of colour into a super contemporary home or create a dark and intimate feel by combining it with Black Blue or Vardo.

The finest ingredients

The finest ingredients

We’re dedicated to perfecting the art of paint. At our home in Dorset, we combine the finest ingredients, 75 years of experience and technical precision to help you create beautiful spaces that stay beautiful. Even in our colour rich paints, less than 8% of the tin is the colour. The other 92% is what creates the quality, depth and extraordinary response to light that transforms your home.

Paint is like coffee. The colour is the froth on the top, but it’s the quality of the rest of the cup that makes it taste good.
– Richard Ball, Farrow & Ball Co-founder

We use twelve exclusive pigments, all specifically selected for their colour intensity. We take colour seriously, so naturally, we only accept the very best. By using these same pigments to make every colour in our palette, all our shades combine effortlessly, making it easy for you to put together a cohesive colour scheme.

Deeper, richer colours

Deeper, richer colours

Packed with pigment for an extraordinary response to every kind of light.

We add generous helpings of rich pigment to create our signature look – deep colours with complex undertones. The same space that feels bright and airy in morning sun, can feel cosy and intimate by evening. Our teams design each shade under every kind of light, so it will be perfectly balanced in every setting.

Extraordinary response to light

Extraordinary response to light

We spend months carefully crafting and testing each of our paint colours to make sure they share our signature extraordinary response to light. This beautiful reaction to changing light, like bringing out different undertones or shifting intensity, is what makes our paint so special.

Interior and exterior finishes

Interior and exterior finishes

From walls, floors and furniture to radiators, skirtings and sheds, our range of paint finishes can help you transform almost any surface in your home (and outside it, too).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great depth I finally settled on Inchyra blue to go on one wall and skimming stone in Sitting room which faces east. So very happy with the result.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great quality paint. You get what you pay for We decided to go from white to Inchyra blue and Mansion House Grey in our hallway. Always use Farrow and Ball since discovering it years ago. It’s expensive but the quality is just fantastic, leaves a great finish. I used the undercoat too so was a huge job but we’re extremely pleased with the result.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful colour for exterior painting I've used Farrow & Ball paint for my shops for years now and it's always money well spent. Seems no matter what I choose they always look great. The colours on the website don't always reflect reality so best to test them but regardless, they look good. Got Inchyra Blue for the outside of this shop and everyone loves it. Lots of compliments. Paint holds up well if undercoated properly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from As a Household... we APPROVE! Inchyra Blue has a sophisticated vibe now on the exterior parts of our cabinets in the kitchen with a dual-tone of BM Cheating Heart within the interior of the cabinetry. It's amazing with the hardware too!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great "warm" blue Super quality - very easy to use - perfect results! The clolour matches perfect with White Tie - we used both in room.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Dynamic blue-ish green I'm obsessed with my Inchyra Blue accent wall. I needed a wall color that would complement my apartment's contemporary features, bring depth to a wall opposite a large bank of north-facing windows, and not clash with my kitchen's brown tile backsplash. Inchyra Blue easily satisfies these requirements and manages to surprise me regularly with how it changes throughout the day in different light. My painter, skeptical of my desire to import paint from the UK without seeing it on my wall first, was impressed with how well it turned out!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Gorgeous color! My husband and I just repainted our entry and living room in Inchyra Blue and the color is gorgeous beyond words! Totally transformed our space! We used the Estate emulsion and it gives the color a softness that is so beautiful in the sunlight! Amazing paint!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing color. Beautiful color that changes with the light. Very easy cleanup and the estate emulsion makes flaws in the plaster of our old home disappear.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Rich and luxurious Chose this colour for our living room and love it! We chose the same colour in eggshell for our skirting board and picture rail too and it looks amazing. Such a rich colour that changes over the day.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lovely I am so happy to choose the colour. It’s not a green and it’s not a blue

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sophisticated I was initially worried about using this colour, thinking it would be too dark. But I love it! It’s bold, daring, warm and classy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic colour Used this in our new bathroom, the colour really does change depending on the light, blue/grey/green. It works perfectly!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Perfect Addition I bought the Inchyra Blue for another room but decided to put it in the small half bath. I painted all walls and ceilings and with the new flooring it gives the illusion of being bigger. I love the color! Will put it in the hallway. Another winner with Farrow and Ball

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Very poor coverage. Great colour. Great delivery. Paint itself not good. We painted a feature wall which was 7.5m². Your website advises a 750ml tin will cover approx 9m². So we ordered this size, it did not cover the wall leaving a patch of approx 1m². We had to order a second tin to finish the wall. Even after two coats some areas still needed another coat to get an acceptable finish. Both tins and a tester pot have been used in their entirety so will need to get more for touch ups.
Date published: 2024-04-12
Rated 2 out of 5 by from This Paint is GREEN not BLUE and I wasted £40 This paint is GREEN not blue. It became slightly more blue with the application of FIVE coats - but it was still green. So I wasted almost forty pounds on a small tin and ended up having to buy ANOTHER tester for another colour and another tin of paint. The quality of the paint is fine but the description is very misleading.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Can’t touch it up later! I was very happy when I used this colour, but it’s darkened significantly over time … that’s fine, until you need to touch it up! I haven’t had this problem with any of the other F&B colours I’ve used, only this one. I’m having to repaint entire walls just because of one tiny scratch or stain or moved furniture/hanging … would not recommend.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from High quality paint Paint usual high quality but disappointed with colour compared to shadecard - not as dark
Date published: 2023-07-31
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Great colur, poor quality We bought this paint for a north facing snug and whilst the colour is gorgeous and we've had many compliments, the quality hasn't been great. We used the dark tones primer and modern emulsion but still had issues where touch ups (from same tin and using same materials) has resulted in smudges and marks meaning we are having to repaint a full wall. In addition, when we used tape against the door frame for when we were painting woodwork, when peeling the tape off it pulled the paint primer and everything off and went straight back to plaster! Even with polyfilla and repainting with primer and two coats you can still see it. the house is 5 years old so no issues with plaster. We have used many F&B colours in our new home and this is the only one we've had an issue with. It's also a feature colour in the kitchen and i'm too scared to do touch ups now. Sad as the colour really is stunning.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Lovely colour but F&B need to work on consistency I bought 2 tins, one of them turned out be white so went and exchanged it. Low and behold second tin is slightly different so now need to do another full coat when I only needed to touch up a few bits. Far from ideal... Expect better for this price.
