Hardwick White

A traditional grey

This traditional grey was originally created to touch up the old limewash at Hardwick Hall and doesn’t look very white to most, unless contrasted with strong shades like Off-Black. Less blue than Lamp Room Gray and with an unsurpassed depth of colour, Hardwick White’s rich and chalky hue sits just as well in a contemporary room as it does in a historic house.

Recommended Primer & Undercoat: Mid Tones

Complementary white: Clunch

Hardwick White is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 99.

Back in 2010, we moved our entire range to an eco-friendly water base that’s low odour, low VOC and child-safe, becoming the first in the industry to do so. Easy to clean without harmful solvents, in tins that can be recycled again and again, our paints help to reduce the environmental impact of redecorating your home.

Every one of our paint colours is available in a range of durable interior and exterior paint finishes, each rigorously tested to ensure an exceptional depth of colour and long-lasting finish. For the very best results, we always recommend using a Farrow & Ball Primer & Undercoat – see above for the correct tone for this colour.

All Farrow & Ball finishes except Limewash contain isothiazolinones, which may produce an allergic reaction. Farrow & Ball Limewash contains calcium hydroxide which can cause severe damage in contact with skin or eyes. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simply gorgeous neutral for your home What a beautiful neutral colour. I bought this in eggshell finish to paint an old pine larder unit and coffee table. It goes on like a dream and I cannot express how much I am now in love with this colour. Looks fab against the Hague Blue on the walls.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful colour Hardwick White is a beautiful colour with a lovely green hue. I have it in both lime wash and emulsion and both are quite different but both amazing. It's an excellent wall colour that goes well with shaded white woodwork for warmth.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lovely colour, finish and coverage ! During Lockdown we decided to take on an outdoor kitchen project. So glad we used Farrow & Ball Hardwick White for the woodwork. We wanted a nice organic outdoor colour to fit in with the herbs and plants. The finish was amazing after 2 coats. Really pleased with the overall effect

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Testing for north facing hallway Trying to find a colour for a North facing hallway. Hardwick White has a depth of colour I've never seen. It can be anything from a putty grey to a green. It's bold yet soft. It's a stunning colour.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hardwick White Estate Eggshell Bought this to re-paint a pair of bedside cabinets. I did not use an undercoat (even thought it is recommended) and they look like new. Lovely paint to use, covers well. Used a brush for some bits and a short pile microfibre roller for the flat parts. Gave these 2 coats. Did not use much, and have plenty left to do more items. Lovely mid tone colour that blends in well with old wood furniture. I have found it a false economy to buy cheaper paint.
