White with the slightest lilac hint

This elegant white is not named after a shark, but simply refers to how wonderful the colour is! Great White appears to be a very pale lilac when contrasted with our All White, making it perfect for children’s bedrooms when wanting to keep a fairly neutral scheme. Despite its red undertone, it is not the warmest of pinks. The inclusion of the merest amount of black lifts it to a wonderfully sophisticated shade with an extraordinary depth of colour.

Key features

The finest ingredients

The finest ingredients

We’re dedicated to perfecting the art of paint. At our home in Dorset, we combine the finest ingredients, 75 years of experience and technical precision to help you create beautiful spaces that stay beautiful. Even in our colour rich paints, less than 8% of the tin is the colour. The other 92% is what creates the quality, depth and extraordinary response to light that transforms your home.

Paint is like coffee. The colour is the froth on the top, but it’s the quality of the rest of the cup that makes it taste good.
– Richard Ball, Farrow & Ball Co-founder

We use twelve exclusive pigments, all specifically selected for their colour intensity. We take colour seriously, so naturally, we only accept the very best. By using these same pigments to make every colour in our palette, all our shades combine effortlessly, making it easy for you to put together a cohesive colour scheme.

Deeper, richer colours

Deeper, richer colours

Packed with pigment for an extraordinary response to every kind of light.

We add generous helpings of rich pigment to create our signature look – deep colours with complex undertones. The same space that feels bright and airy in morning sun, can feel cosy and intimate by evening. Our teams design each shade under every kind of light, so it will be perfectly balanced in every setting.

Extraordinary response to light

Extraordinary response to light

We spend months carefully crafting and testing each of our paint colours to make sure they share our signature extraordinary response to light. This beautiful reaction to changing light, like bringing out different undertones or shifting intensity, is what makes our paint so special.

Interior and exterior finishes

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great white is truly great! Absolutely loving great white’s delicate lilac on my wall. I based the room around a choice of Peignoir for the built-ins and followed the F&B complementary color scheme (strong white and wevet in there too). Looks fabulous and the paint is a joy to work with.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great White - exquisite and tranquil Just had my hallway walls and ceiling painted in Great White full gloss finish and I could not be happier. The color ranges from creamy white to palest lilac-gray depending on the light - opposite walls will sometimes appear to be two softly contrasting colors. The overall effect is dreamy, tranquil, and timeless. Paired it with Winbourne White on the woodwork for a touch of crispness. The coverage is excellent and it applies like a dream. My walls were banged up from extensive renovation following water damage throughout the house, so the high gloss finish required extra prep: fills/patching, sanding, and total skimming before priming. Hiring painters experienced in using F&B high gloss made an enormous difference. Odor was manageable with an open window, didn't take long to dissipate. I've used F&B high gloss finish before and it wears like iron-cladding in terms of protecting your walls and precluding scuffs and stains. Word to the wise: you will not see water stains developing before you see actual water. You won't find any paint more durable. With the appropriate prep and experienced painters, you won't find any more beautiful. The hallway is facing a room (not visible in the photo) painted entirely in Drawing Room Blue, so the red/purple undertones in Great White are really coming through. In the second photo, all of the walls and ceiling are the same paint, but you can see how the light produces different effects.
