Drawing Room Blue

No.253

A clean blue hue

This rich blue is less purple than Pitch Blue and livelier than navy Stiffkey Blue. Inspired by the formal rooms to which ladies would traditionally retire after dinner, Drawing Room Blue has a clean, graphic feel that works particularly well alongside Pitch Black and Incarnadine. When contrasted with All White on woodwork, it gains a regal edge, looking deeper and more intense.

Recommended Primer & Undercoat: Dark Tones

Complementary white: Blackened

ECO-FRIENDLY AND CHILD-SAFE

Back in 2010, we moved our entire range to an eco-friendly water base that’s low odour, low VOC and child-safe, becoming the first in the industry to do so. Easy to clean without harmful solvents, in tins that can be recycled again and again, our paints help to reduce the environmental impact of redecorating your home.

QUALITY FINISHES

Every one of our 132 paint colours is available in a range of durable interior and exterior paint finishes, each rigorously tested to ensure an exceptional depth of colour and long-lasting finish. For the very best results, we always recommend using a Farrow & Ball Primer & Undercoat – see above for the correct tone for this colour.

SAFETY INFORMATION

All Farrow & Ball finishes except Limewash contain isothiazolinones, which may produce an allergic reaction. Farrow & Ball Limewash contains calcium hydroxide which can cause severe damage in contact with skin or eyes. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lovely deep blue I bought this back in June, having tested 5 other shades (from various other paint brands) and none of them feeling right! I made a snap decision to order 5L of the estate emulsion for my lounge’s feature wall and I am so happy I did! It’s such a great colour, exactly what I wanted. I’d say it can come off quite easily with a wet towel, so recommend using the other/modern emulsions for a harder-wearing finish if the wall is going to see a lot of touching! Overall I absolutely love the colour. It’s exactly what I wanted.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Colour I bought this for our bathroom. Tester not available so just took the risk. It has come out great. Nice and bright when the light hits and rich and dark on an evening.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Gorgeous colour and great quality paint Drawing room blue has completed my room with an amazing bright blue feature wall. This paint is so pigmented and intense in colour and went on the wall extremely easily. This cross between navy and royal blue has the most gorgeous purple tone and glows when the light hits it. Thank you Farrow and Ball

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A pleasure to put on and adelight to look at. I was covering a wall in chocolate-brown and a single coat was nearly perfect. The second coat was truly woderful. Christine Cook

Rated 5 out of 5 by from changes with the light more than my other F&B colour choices over the yrs. I didn’t buy a tester and then nearly didn’t put it on the walls because it was bolder than I had realised but took the plunge as I have never had a bad result with any F&B shade in over 20 yrs of using their products. I used the modern emulsion and have found we had to be more careful about the overlap between brush finish and a roller finish possibly because of the light qualities in the room. We’ve done 3 coats over a pale shade so far and probably should still try and address some shadowing in places. Having said that a pro painter&decorator probably wouldn’t have these issues. Don’t doubt the shade...go big, go bold.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Much better than expected This colour was chosen to compliment a Beech sideboard. I am happy to say that it has produced a much better effect than anticipated. The Beech brings out a warmth in the blue that was not anticipated. This is one of those instances where the whole is much more than the sum of the individual elements. A stunning result overall.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great to use Drawing room blue used for wooden garage doors which must be 50 years old and in poor condition. Two coats of dark primer. After seeing the primer colour, this is likely to be the colour we will use in the future for other projects. After two coats of primer and a further two coats of Drawing Room Blue, the door looked almost brand new with an excellant sheen. The overall impression was a job completed easily and we were well satisfied with the end result. Both large doors now look refreshed. We are now deciding on the colour for our hall and cant wait to start.
