A very pale taupe

Dimity is named after the lightweight cotton fabric originally used to make ladies’ bustles, but which is now more commonly used for bedding. One of our Red Based Neutrals, this pale and subdued taupe is brimming with warmth and an unmatchable depth, making it perfect for elegant and understated hallways. It can be combined with All White and Pointing to read pinker, or with the darker Oxford Stone on woodwork for a slightly aged look and relaxed feel.

Recommended Primer & Undercoat: White & Light Tones

Complementary white: Pointing

Dimity is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 150.

Back in 2010, we moved our entire range to an eco-friendly water base that’s low odour, low VOC and child-safe, becoming the first in the industry to do so. Easy to clean without harmful solvents, in tins that can be recycled again and again, our paints help to reduce the environmental impact of redecorating your home.

Every one of our paint colours is available in a range of durable interior and exterior paint finishes, each rigorously tested to ensure an exceptional depth of colour and long-lasting finish. For the very best results, we always recommend using a Farrow & Ball Primer & Undercoat – see above for the correct tone for this colour.

All Farrow & Ball finishes except Limewash contain isothiazolinones, which may produce an allergic reaction. Farrow & Ball Limewash contains calcium hydroxide which can cause severe damage in contact with skin or eyes. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best paint ever! We painted our little North facing kitchen in Dimity with Joa's White on the units and Pointing on the ceiling. The colour is light but warm during the day and really cosy in the evening. Went on like a dream. Fantastic coverage. Wouldn't use any other paint again. We found out that Farrow and Ball can't be successfully colour matched so we're sticking with the real thing for the rest of the house. Freshly plastered walls, used watered down undercoat in Dimity Modern Emulsion followed by 2 coats of neat Dimity, as advised by F&B.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful Neutral Taupe (with a hint of pink) This red based taupe goes with pretty much anything. It does read slightly pink depending on the light. In our south-west facing living room it looks more cream/putty in the daylight and a very pale calamine/pale golden sand in artificial light. We’ve used quite bold colours with it which seems to work - Stone blue, Teal (similar to Vardo) and some purple artwork. It goes well with our dark brown leather sofas and gold mirror too. A very relaxing and pretty colour.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best For paint it seems expensive but really if you think about it, to spend a couple of hundred pounds to get the quality, finish and colour which one knows are going to be spot on and really perfect it must be worth it. It always IS.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Warm White We have painted all our ceilings and accent walls dimity. It is the perfect warm white so long as you don’t pare it with a tan or other white. This color is so versatile. We pared Dimity with Studio Green in our dining room. Our living room and hallway it’s on the ceiling and walls pared with Dead Salmon for trim color. Dimity is also pared with Green Smoke in our Kitchen. And in our bedrooms upstairs with a deep blue and moody green upstairs. We adore this warm white with the Northwestern light our house gets.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lovely colour I brought this a few days ago and I'm in love with the colour I used it as the main colour in the hallway with Card Room Green as a feature wall. It's not totally finished yet I'm struggling to find a colour for the skirting and door frames open to any suggestions

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Farrow and Ball paints never let me down.... I have used Farrow and Ball paints many times and they are always first class. Never used Dimity before but read the reviews and thought I would purchase a 2.5L tin of modern emulsion for my lounge. Coverage has been excellent and it has brought a lovely warm tone to the walls which changes with the light levels. Also sets off nicely the darker wood furniture especially the piano! Finished off the skirting boards with Wimborne White and it looks great. Delivery was prompt, even in these uncertain times it only took three days from ordering to delivery. I will definitely order direct from F&B again, especially as my local B&Q and Homebase only seem to stock the Estate Emulsion and not the Modern Emulsion which I find better for wiping down.
