A muted green grey

This very light green grey is named after the Cromarty Firth estuary, a place of swirling mists mentioned daily in the Shipping Forecast. A neutral yet atmospheric colour, Cromarty brings a muted softness to any room, creating an easy to use finish that is neither too green nor too grey. A shade lighter than Mizzle, it works beautifully when grouped with Blue Gray or Pigeon.

Recommended Primer & Undercoat: Mid Tones

Complementary white: Shadow White

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it I was really nervous be about choosing cromarty because I'd read a few negative reviews and my tester area on the wall looked very strong and quite grey. However I am so glad we just went for it. It's a beautiful, calm, sophisticated colour. In my room it looks like an offbeat, soft, hazy green. Not grey and not too strong. It's a dark room too but the overall effect is warm and peaceful. Goes perfectly with our dark oak floors and white woodwork. Very pleased.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lovely! I have had my kitchen walls painted today in Cromarty. I have been looking for a colour for a while. Lots of tester pots later I discovered this beautiful colour. It looks lovely with porcelain coloured cabinets, wooden worktops and pale sage/grey metro tiles. It is calming and clean-looking. Thank you!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect neutral for a color lover I painted my bedroom with Cromarty and I absolutely love it! It goes well with reds, pinks, purples and various other jewel toned colors. I couldn’t be happier with this color!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Brightens our Day Having to convert a room to an office we wanted a colour which was bright, focusing and what we fell was up lifting. Love the finish of the modern emulsion provides a slight sheen and allows for wipe clean. We used the undercoat and will always do as it provides a good base and only two top coats required.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful colour! We tried a few different sample pots and then bought Cromarty to paint the radiator cover in our hall. Gorgeous green grey colour, sophisticated, warm and lifts a room which doesn't have too much natural light - are planning to paint the door and coat rack to match.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from CROMARTY NO 285 I purchased a sample tin first to test the colour. I find it difficult to decide on how much paint to order, so rather than not enough did order far too much and therefore have now a whole tin left over, which I do not think you can return. The emulsion was going over a wall that had a sheen emulsion on before so was not sure how it would cover. Having put on one coat it did certainly need the second coat (which they recommend anyway). The weather was very warm which obviously did aid the drying. However I did leave it the recommended 4 hours before applying the second coat. It has covered really well and I certainly like the colour, it was just what I wanted. It makes the room look much lighter which is good. Overall I would recommend this paint.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful calming colour After a number of different sample pots and many weeks of deciding I settled on this for my bedroom colour. It's a really lovely calming colour, pale off green in the morning and sophisticated green grey in the afternoon/evening (east facing room). Easy to paint with. Beautiful finish. Only needed two coats straight onto a previous paler off white without primer. Goes beautifully against the dark green I'd already chosen for the feature wall.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing Coverage This is my first can of Farrow & Ball paint and I can honestly say the hype is legitimately earned. Not only is the color beautiful, but the coverage is amazing - I painted over bright LIME GREEN walls in a 100 sq ft room and haven't even used half the can. If you're on the fence about the price, go for it, you'll save yourself a lot of time.
