A deep, warm grey
A warm and muted grey, Charleston Gray is named after the much loved home of the equally artistic and intellectual Bloomsbury Group in East Sussex. Very popular for use in modern living rooms, its brown undertones create a warm, enveloping and hushed atmosphere. It is the perfect accent colour for all the warm Contemporary Neutrals or can be used on woodwork with rich Brinjal.

Stunning colour
Having painted everything that didn't move with Tallow last year I am still delighted with the colour . Turning 60 made me yearn to be more contemporary (not wanting to slip into old age) so I added a charlston gray wall to my bedroom painted my white bed and bedside tables with skimming stone and its wonderful.
Calm, warm and soft and definitely up to date. The darker wall has pulled all the room elements together . I couldn't be happier - it looks as if it was done by an interior designer. Yes it did take three coats but it was worth it and I expected that. I've just had the bathroom refitted and am off to F&B tomorrow to look for more greys.

Beautiful colour but you need a lot of it
I love this colour, it looks beautiful in a bedroom with Skimming Stone woodwork and ceiling. BUT if you follow the rules and use their ridiculously dark undercoat, which is basically "Downpipe", then you will need four top coats to obliterate, as I did. I would look for a similar colour to use as undercoat; back the the day F&B used to recommend a variety of their own related colours as undercoats, before they started marketing just four. Some of their current undercoats work well but the dark one can be miles away from the intended finish colour; they recommend it for Vardo too and I also needed 4 top coats. They even recommend Dark Undercoat for Teresa's Green but I didn't fall for it that time!
