A dark grey green
This dark grey green is named after the study-like rooms much favoured in the Victorian period and is unapologetic in its strength. It really comes alive when contrasted with a warm neutral like Off-White or set against the darker Studio Green, but feels more contemporary when used with no contrasts at all.
We’re dedicated to perfecting the art of paint. At our home in Dorset, we combine the finest ingredients, 75 years of experience and technical precision to help you create beautiful spaces that stay beautiful. Even in our colour rich paints, less than 8% of the tin is the colour. The other 92% is what creates the quality, depth and extraordinary response to light that transforms your home.
Paint is like coffee. The colour is the froth on the top, but it’s the quality of the rest of the cup that makes it taste good. – Richard Ball, Farrow & Ball Co-founder
We use twelve exclusive pigments, all specifically selected for their colour intensity. We take colour seriously, so naturally, we only accept the very best. By using these same pigments to make every colour in our palette, all our shades combine effortlessly, making it easy for you to put together a cohesive colour scheme.
Deeper, richer colours
Deeper, richer colours
Packed with pigment for an extraordinary response to every kind of light.
We add generous helpings of rich pigment to create our signature look – deep colours with complex undertones. The same space that feels bright and airy in morning sun, can feel cosy and intimate by evening. Our teams design each shade under every kind of light, so it will be perfectly balanced in every setting.
Extraordinary response to light
Extraordinary response to light
We spend months carefully crafting and testing each of our paint colours to make sure they share our signature extraordinary response to light. This beautiful reaction to changing light, like bringing out different undertones or shifting intensity, is what makes our paint so special.
Interior and exterior finishes
Interior and exterior finishes
From walls, floors and furniture to radiators, skirtings and sheds, our range of paint finishes can help you transform almost any surface in your home (and outside it, too).

Bold but tastefulReally beautiful color. The grey in it really calms down the green; it added a lot of color to our space without being overwhelming. It went on easily and dried beautifully smooth, regardless of whether I used a roller or a brush (I painted our fireplace, and it honestly looks like it was sprayed on).

Beautiful color that changes in the lightThis color has so much dimension and depth. Sometimes it's green, sometimes it's gray, sometimes people think it looks blue. It really makes a statement!

Excellent delivery problem resolutionDespite a problem with an initial delivery the issue was resolved quickly and without fuss. The paint was as requested and did what it said on the tin. I would certainly use F & B again.

Gorgeous GreenPainted my kitchen in this gorgeous green. The dead flat finish is perfect to minimise any imperfections. The colour is as rich and deep as ever with F&B. It really is the perfect shade of green to me, not yellow and not blueish more towards a grey undertone.

Stunning modern colourStunning classic and modern colour.
Used estate emulsion to start but it couldn’t stand up to the heavy traffic area so purchase in Flat Matt. I must say I found this difficult to apply at first with a brush, very different from the normal F&B Estate and Modern. You cannot drag the paint in the same way. Also with this colour you have to have a very even coat otherwise you will get darker patches.

Cosy libraryCard Room Green is absolutely stunning in our library which only receives borrowed light: it makes the room feel cosy and inviting. Estate emulsion on the walls, exterior eggshell on the bookshelves and trim. The ceiling is painted in String, estate emulsion.

Beautiful colour but awful finishWe painted our spare room with this and it scuffs beyond belief. It's such a shame as we will have to repaint with another brand now

Poor coverageGreat colour but extremely poor coverage. Used a professional decorator (very well recommended). Walls properly prepared and F&B undercoat used. After 3 coats (applied wet on wet) there were tramlines around the edges and power sockets. F&B help line suggested applying a 4th coat but watered-down. No improvement. No only did I need to buy additional paint but also increased cost for my decorator. F&B would only offer a voucher to cover my costs but no additional compensation. After using their products for many years we will no longer use their paint.

Expensive and poor finishDecorators painted on Monday, and on Tuesday they came to do some touch ups, it dried up in a different colour. For the other rooms I bought a cheaper paint and did not had this issue. Very disapointed
Back in 2010, we moved to an entirely water based range of finishes, becoming the first in the industry to do so. These low-odour, low-VOC finishes are easy to clean without harmful solvents. They are also certified child- and baby-safe in accordance with Safety of Toys Part 3: Migration of certain elements (EN 71-3:2019+A1:2021).
Exclusions: Casein Distemper, Wood Primer & Undercoat and Metal Primer & Undercoat.
Quality Finishes
Every one of our paint colours is available in a range of durable interior and exterior paint finishes, each rigorously tested to ensure an exceptional depth of colour and long-lasting finish. For the very best results, we always recommend using a Farrow & Ball Primer & Undercoat - see above for the correct tone for this colour.
