A soft and stony grey

A soft grey with a touch of green, this stony neutral is simply named after the colour of bones found in the animal kingdom. Softer than Old White, Bone creates a timeless look suited to halls when combined with Lime White on woodwork. It can also be used to create a feeling of light and space when paired with lighter tones; or as a sympathetic neutral with our stronger, more traditional colours.

Recommended Primer & Undercoat: Mid Tones

Complementary white: Lime White

Bone is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 111.

Back in 2010, we moved our entire range to an eco-friendly water base that’s low odour, low VOC and child-safe, becoming the first in the industry to do so. Easy to clean without harmful solvents, in tins that can be recycled again and again, our paints help to reduce the environmental impact of redecorating your home.

Every one of our paint colours is available in a range of durable interior and exterior paint finishes, each rigorously tested to ensure an exceptional depth of colour and long-lasting finish. For the very best results, we always recommend using a Farrow & Ball Primer & Undercoat – see above for the correct tone for this colour.

All Farrow & Ball finishes except Limewash contain isothiazolinones, which may produce an allergic reaction. Farrow & Ball Limewash contains calcium hydroxide which can cause severe damage in contact with skin or eyes. Rated 5 out of 5 by from I always use Farrow and Ball paints… My daughter chose Bone for my parents living room in an old family house by the sea. She has a very good eye for color and after a number of potential pots, she arrived and rose to the occasion. Now, we’re trying to figure out the color of the walls and woodwork in the still before the Bone video above. I think it’s Slipper Satin, of which I have a spare quart.Any opinions…??? Thanks. Scott

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sophisticated and timeless colour I’ve just painted my dining room in Bone, previously it was Skimming Stone. The colour has come up a little more green than I expected but looks great. I have paired up with pale oak flooring and white wood work. This room doubles as my home office and looks out into the garden. The colour is calming. To help with using F&B estate emulsion I always add a tiny splash of water, works wonders!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The perfect alternative to old white I was looking for a colour that was similar to my ever faithful farrow and ball old white but slightly softer if not more on the grey side for the modern twist. Bone did not disappoint, it is beautiful and so easy to apply. Only two coats needed on fresh sealed plaster. Bone is the perfect colour for my garden office, calming and elegant.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best eggshell paint I’ve ever used. I bought this paint to use on bedroom furniture to match a piece I bought which didn’t quite match the old furniture. After sending for a paint chart I found the Bone shade matched perfectly. After two coats my bedroom furniture now looks like new. It’s by far the best paint I have used and well worth the price. The colour looks different in certain lights and I love it. I intend buying some emulsion to use on the rest of the house. You get what you pay for and this is the best.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lovely This was the first sample trying to find the idea colour. We are on our third sample and have found the one ‘Stony Ground’, which is perfect! Any chance of a discount when we purchase the paint having spent £14.85 on the samples, cheeky I know but if you don’t ask, you don’t get!
