A strong neutral stone
This yellow based stone hue was first created as a background colour for our wallpapers but was quickly added to our paint collection by popular request. Named after Dennis Savage, a block printer who was instrumental in the creation of our very first wallpaper designs, this warm and timeless neutral sits beautifully on both clapboard and panelling.

Brightens up my hall and landing
My hall and landing was a mid brown colour in a matt finish. Grubby finger prints from my children soon made the walls look dirty and I also found that the colour overall was too dark. After testing several different colours I decided on Savage Ground. A beautiful light colour in modern emulsion finish has transformed my walls and the area looks so much lighter. The finish means that it’s wipeable so no more grubby fingerprints. Two coats needed on the walls leave a beautiful glowing finish. As a long time customer of Farrow & Ball I continue to be impressed by the ease of use of the paint and the depth of colour in the finish.

Savage Ground - In my experience, not good for north facing rooms
Despite Savage Ground being recommended for north facing rooms on this website quote:
'particularly useful for north facing rooms which tend to bring out the green in colours'
it doesn't work!
I was very disappointed with this colour. On the wall it was grey-green in colour in daytime and a pale green at night - horrible; nothing like the sample I applied to an artist's board. I've wasted £39.50. Luckily, I only painted a chimney breast, now repainted in the original colour - Fired Earth's 'Sienna Earth' - which is exactly the colour it should be and doesn't really change with the time of day.
