A warm terracotta red

This light terracotta hue takes its name from the very soil beneath our feet. Red Earth is a rich blend of red and yellow pigments which create a warm earthy feel in homes both old and new. Often best used in smaller spaces, this warm colour responds extraordinarily to the changes of light throughout the day, becoming deeper and cosier as the sun drops.

Complementary white: Dimity

Key features

The finest ingredients

The finest ingredients

We’re dedicated to perfecting the art of paint. At our home in Dorset, we combine the finest ingredients, 75 years of experience and technical precision to help you create beautiful spaces that stay beautiful. Even in our colour rich paints, less than 8% of the tin is the colour. The other 92% is what creates the quality, depth and extraordinary response to light that transforms your home.

Paint is like coffee. The colour is the froth on the top, but it’s the quality of the rest of the cup that makes it taste good.
– Richard Ball, Farrow & Ball Co-founder

We use twelve exclusive pigments, all specifically selected for their colour intensity. We take colour seriously, so naturally, we only accept the very best. By using these same pigments to make every colour in our palette, all our shades combine effortlessly, making it easy for you to put together a cohesive colour scheme.

Deeper, richer colours

Deeper, richer colours

Packed with pigment for an extraordinary response to every kind of light.

We add generous helpings of rich pigment to create our signature look – deep colours with complex undertones. The same space that feels bright and airy in morning sun, can feel cosy and intimate by evening. Our teams design each shade under every kind of light, so it will be perfectly balanced in every setting.

Extraordinary response to light

Extraordinary response to light

We spend months carefully crafting and testing each of our paint colours to make sure they share our signature extraordinary response to light. This beautiful reaction to changing light, like bringing out different undertones or shifting intensity, is what makes our paint so special.

Interior and exterior finishes

Interior and exterior finishes

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The most beautiful red for a small study We live in an 1928 house with an adorable study ajoint our eating room. We painted our eating room Pink Ground. We needed something that combined with that. We asked our retailer and they came with Red Earth. We used the red tones primer underneath and it came out absolutely stunning. We used the dead flat finish. This is an absolute winner. It is warm, intriguing, vibrant! It uplifted the whole room. EWimborne white on ceiling and trim. A winner, love it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful rendering ! The paint is very beautiful and the rendering "powdered" is very beautiful. The paint is of very good quality, like the others I already have at home (Charlotte's locks, Hague Blue, ...)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Red Earth I used Red Earth on a couple of fence panels - making a difference section - seating area in the garden & it looks fantastic… a little dappled shade against it looks just like the picture on the f&b site. I would never of chosen the colour from the tin in the shop - need to try mini pots and view pictures on the site - it’s transformed that corner of my garden, classy and modern. Love it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Warm, bold, earthy We purchased this for our dining room area, which faces south west and we used it as a feature wall with skimming stone on the other walls. It has really transformed the room and given such a nice vibe and feel to it. This room was actually our living room previously however we decided to swap them at last minute as it’s a better use of the space. I am so glad I went with my gut on this, as it has worked out better than I thought it would. Everyone loves it and I’m very happy I went out of my comfort zone on this. It is such a gorgeous colour, it’s warm, bold and earthy and to us also has a Mediterranean feel to it.
