Mouse's Back

A quiet grey brown

This grey brown classic takes its characterful name from the fawny colour of the British field mouse. Much like its namesake, the green based Mouse’s Back is quiet in nature and feels soft in rooms both large and small. It will read greener when used on the walls of underlit rooms and is the perfect accent on furniture or floors when combined with more traditional shades such as Setting Plaster and Lime White.

Recommended Primer & Undercoat: Mid Tones

Complementary white: Slipper Satin

Mouse's Back is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 91.

Back in 2010, we moved to an entirely water based range of finishes, becoming the first in the industry to do so. These low-odor, low-VOC finishes are easy to clean without harmful solvents. They also meet child- and baby-safe requirements in accordance with The Canada Cribs, Cradles and Bassinets Regulations, Canada Toy Regulations (SOR/2011-17) – Section 23 and ASTM F963 – 17 - Standard Consumer Safety Specification for Toy Safety.

Our paint colours are available in a range of durable interior and exterior paint finishes, each rigorously tested to ensure an exceptional depth of colour and long-lasting finish. For the very best results, we always recommend using a Farrow & Ball Primer & Undercoat – see above for the correct tone for this colour.

All Farrow & Ball finishes except Limewash contain isothiazolinones, which may produce an allergic reaction. Farrow & Ball Limewash contains calcium hydroxide which can cause severe damage in contact with skin or eyes. Rated 5 out of 5 by from I’m a little obsessed with the colour!! After receiving the sample pot of Mouse’s Back I ordered an outdoor wood and metal tin. I’m in the middle of painting my second garage door but just look at this colour! I’m in love!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One of the best Farrow and Ball colors EVER! I have lived with this color in my living room for several years and it's still my favorite in the house. The color changes with the light, but it is always warm and elegant and makes any piece of art or furniture placed against it look expensive! I've also seen it in a bedroom and it was beautiful! Wherever I live, I will always have a room in Mouse's Back.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Elegant historic brown Fantastic, lovely, elegant brown, which is sort of a dark umber that appears to be in the same family as Light Grey and Stony Ground. Looks beautiful in Estate Eggshell and makes a good combo with Joa's White or Oxford Stone.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Understated colour I chose this colour to revamp my tired oak kitchen units and what a difference it has made. The estate eggshell went on beautifully over the mid tones primer/undercoat. My kitchen now feels much more modern and original.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Colour works well on Garden Shed A nice easy to apply textured paint. Dries well, but might require a second coat (mine did) to ensure consistent cover. Colour looks god on shed and blends well into garden setting.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Mouse’s Back I used Mouse’s Back Modern Emulsion to paint a ceramic tile floor (after cleaning it well). It appears like old clay tiles. It wears well but if it scratches I just touch it up. The walls are Matt Off Black.
