French Gray

A soothing green grey

French Gray is really much more green than grey, but characterfully flits between the two depending on the light and time of day. Taking inspiration from French decoration and wallpapers used in the 19th century, it creates the most relaxed of rooms. This soothing hue is perfect for exterior woodwork and a particular favourite for front doors in our matt Exterior Eggshell, or garden furniture where it sits seamlessly amongst the greenery.

Recommended Primer & Undercoat: Mid Tones

Complementary white: Lime White

Back in 2010, we moved to an entirely water based range of finishes, becoming the first in the industry to do so. These low-odor, low-VOC finishes are easy to clean without harmful solvents. They also meet child- and baby-safe requirements in accordance with The Canada Cribs, Cradles and Bassinets Regulations, Canada Toy Regulations (SOR/2011-17) – Section 23 and ASTM F963 – 17 - Standard Consumer Safety Specification for Toy Safety.

Our paint colours are available in a range of durable interior and exterior paint finishes, each rigorously tested to ensure an exceptional depth of colour and long-lasting finish. For the very best results, we always recommend using a Farrow & Ball Primer & Undercoat – see above for the correct tone for this colour.

All Farrow & Ball finishes except Limewash contain isothiazolinones, which may produce an allergic reaction. Farrow & Ball Limewash contains calcium hydroxide which can cause severe damage in contact with skin or eyes. Rated 5 out of 5 by from I always use Farrow and Ball I wanted to redecorate my hallway. I tried three tester pots and decided on French Gray estate emulsion. It looks fabulous whatever time of day and how ever much or little light there is. I used Wimborne White on the doors and Stony Ground on a cabinet. It goes together really well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Loving this colour! Ordered three samples & decided unequivocally on French Gray no.18 It’s on the bedroom walls now & I loved it so much I’ve done the woodwork in the same colour! It’s definitely grey/green, emphasis on the green & it’s a very warm colour; less austere than a cold ‘grey-grey’

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It’s a perfect calming green The combination of French Grey and Dimity in the room is just beautiful. So much so, it’s found it’s way into other rooms in the house. Fabulous to apply and looks a different shade in different light. Just perfect

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Colour for my new grey kitchen! I went through many match pots looking for just the right colour. I’m so glad I settled on the French Gray - it was perfect! A little more expensive than I would normally pay for paint abut fabulous quality and very good coverage. So much so I went on to buy more Farrow and ball paint!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stunning colour I wanted to give my front door a little bit of colour. I decided on French Gray as I thought it would give my country home a timeless feel. This colour really compliments the stone work and not only is the colour beautiful the paint itself it’s so nice to use. Definitely worth the price. Now I just need to order more paint to paint my windows!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One of my favourites I was looking for an earthy green for the panelling in my bright sunroom and found French Gray to be perfect, paired with Off White on the walls above. The paint goes for miles so, whilst not cheap, is great value.
