Just off white

This just off white is named after the market town of Wimborne in Dorset and home to Farrow & Ball. Only a shade away from a pure white, the addition of the smallest amount of warm yellow pigment creates a very versatile shade which is just a little softer than All White.

Key features

The finest ingredients

The finest ingredients

We’re dedicated to perfecting the art of paint. At our home in Dorset, we combine the finest ingredients, 75 years of experience and technical precision to help you create beautiful spaces that stay beautiful. Even in our colour rich paints, less than 8% of the tin is the colour. The other 92% is what creates the quality, depth and extraordinary response to light that transforms your home.

Paint is like coffee. The colour is the froth on the top, but it’s the quality of the rest of the cup that makes it taste good.
– Richard Ball, Farrow & Ball Co-founder

We use twelve exclusive pigments, all specifically selected for their colour intensity. We take colour seriously, so naturally, we only accept the very best. By using these same pigments to make every colour in our palette, all our shades combine effortlessly, making it easy for you to put together a cohesive colour scheme.

Deeper, richer colours

Deeper, richer colours

Packed with pigment for an extraordinary response to every kind of light.

We add generous helpings of rich pigment to create our signature look – deep colours with complex undertones. The same space that feels bright and airy in morning sun, can feel cosy and intimate by evening. Our teams design each shade under every kind of light, so it will be perfectly balanced in every setting.

Extraordinary response to light

Extraordinary response to light

We spend months carefully crafting and testing each of our paint colours to make sure they share our signature extraordinary response to light. This beautiful reaction to changing light, like bringing out different undertones or shifting intensity, is what makes our paint so special.

Interior and exterior finishes

Interior and exterior finishes

From walls, floors and furniture to radiators, skirtings and sheds, our range of paint finishes can help you transform almost any surface in your home (and outside it, too).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderful Wimborne white. Wardrobes painted from shaded white to Wimborne white to complement my wallpaper and curtains Absolutely love the colour - so bright and look lovely against the selvedge blue A bit of prep needed before top coat but we'll worth it These were secondhand Schreiber melamine wardrobes which we upcycled and they look so good now painted

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Classic and Warm After advice with Farrow and Ball advisor, Wimborne White chosen as option to go with Joa's White walls. So thrilled with color and paint finishes on both ceiling and doors. It brings warmth to a smaller Victorian room and authentic in character. Additionally, the price though expensive, worth every penny as finish high with no splash so economically better value. Will now use in other rooms as very impressed with Farrow and Ball paint.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best eggshell Farrow and ball eggshell is by far the best. It’s so hardwaring and tough. I painted my kitchen cupboards with it and it stands the test of time. I was painting over a beige color, which was quite light, and it did require 3-4 coats which was unexpected, but worth it. Wouldn’t chose an eggshell from anywhere else

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Gorgeous creamy reflective colour! I have used this colour on wood and a bedroom ceiling before. We are now using it for a dining room which has made the room seem larger and more relaxing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Glowy and fresh and smart My favorite of all the F&B paints I’ve used so far. It has glow and inner depth but it’s not too yellow. It’s confident and stylish and makes everything in the room look hip and effortless, like you know what you’re doing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect kitchen white Lovely soft, cotton coloured warm white for our kitchen. The quality of the paint meant we only needed two coats on top of primer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from As always good quality paint I am a Farrow and Ball customer since 2002 and rate Farrow and Ball paints very high. They always painted very easily when they were oil-based but also now they are water-based they apply very smoothly. I chose Wimborne White as a contrast to Dove Tale because The F&B website advised me that they were a match. Well done F&B

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Warm subtle shade A lovely shade between a warm white and a pale cream. Bedroom woodwork looks really good in it, with a high gloss.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful White Absolutely beautiful white. I used it in my bathroom on the ceiling and upper walls with shadow white on the wainscoting. Just a beautiful combination. The paint is definitely high quality. I did two coats and the coverage is wonderful!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So elegant and soft. It’s like painting sunshine. This is such an elegant colour. I have used it in many houses. The last one is a new build with very harsh white on flat walls which I have found to be stressful. The Wimbourne White has made the space so much more comfortable and restful. It’s like gentle sunlight. It looks especially pretty next to antique pine. The wardrobe is painted in the eggshell which also looks beautiful. I wish farrow and ball would offer estate emulsion in 750ml pots also.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful finish, love the color! We did a major gut job on our new house and, because I'm sensitive to scents and chemicals, we decided to paint the entire interior in Farrow and Ball. We love how it turned out. This is our living room, walls in Wimborne White and the fireplace in Stiffkey Blue. The white was luminous and soft, exactly what I was hoping for.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect white This was the perfect white for our south facing space. Not stark, just a lovely mellow white. It glows on the walls.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Warm white! Looks great. Lovely white colour, not to harsh has a warmer tone . Looks great with oak wood. Paints well, primer is definitely needed. ( is quite a thin paint)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A classic paint with wonderful coverage I love the colour and the coverage was great - we only needed one coat where we thought we would need two. It's a warm colour, perfect for our country kitchen.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for trim and woodwork I used Wimborne White Eggshell on woodwork trim against Hague Blue and Pointing wall colors. This is a perfect soft white, creamy but no discernible undertones. It really makes the wall colors stand out, and enhances the woodwork very well. I’m going to finish my entire downstairs with this now.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Main color for two houses! We have used Farrow and Ball paints in two recent home we have built. Wimborne white covers all of the trim and the extensive wainscot in both and is beautiful. It reads as a bright white but not a cold white. It is beautiful with the kitchen cabinets painted in white tie, bedrooms in light blue, stiffkey blue, dimmity, cabbage white as well as wallpaper.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My favourite white People think "white is just white" but it's not and particularly when decorating South facing spaces! The right shade of white is really important Decorated entire bedroom in this colour - ceiling, walls and woodwork

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it! Everyone’s pictures here seem to show Wimborne White with a lot more yellow than it’s showing up on my walls. Just painted the landing and the stairs, and I probably will paint the majority of downstairs with it. It’s this perfectly elegant, barely there, soft white that modernizes my traditional home. And it looks great with the greenery outside the windows.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Lovely color Beautiful color. It’s just a little warmer than all white. Unfortunately, this colour does not seem to cover very well – it took five coats for me to cover slipper satin! But I don’t mind because it’s a great color.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Poor coverage 4 coats! Disappointed.poor coverage and quality.used to paint ikea wardrobes. Primer used and undercoat.took 4 coats!
Date published: 2023-11-16
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not fit for purpose The new dead flat paint is not fit for purpose. It suggested it is suitable for wood… it isn’t . I foolishly painted a wooden sash window with it and it all just crumbled off. I had used the F&B undercoat/ primer as suggested. I’m now going to have to re sand the whole thing down and buy a tin of the F&B eggshell which I’ve used in the past. It’s not just the cost of the paint it’s more about the time I’ve wasted, preparation etc.
