A light cream
This illuminating neutral takes its name from the natural material originally used to make candles. Tallow’s pale cream finish reflects the light brilliantly so it is perfect if you want to lift a darker space or paint one colour throughout a property. The slightest hint of pink and yellow pigment creates a warm but fresh feel which is often very popular in nurseries.
Recommended Primer & Undercoat:White and Light Tones
We’re dedicated to perfecting the art of paint. At our home in Dorset, we combine the finest ingredients, 75 years of experience and technical precision to help you create beautiful spaces that stay beautiful. Even in our colour rich paints, less than 8% of the tin is the colour. The other 92% is what creates the quality, depth and extraordinary response to light that transforms your home.
Paint is like coffee. The colour is the froth on the top, but it’s the quality of the rest of the cup that makes it taste good. – Richard Ball, Farrow & Ball Co-founder
We use twelve exclusive pigments, all specifically selected for their colour intensity. We take colour seriously, so naturally, we only accept the very best. By using these same pigments to make every colour in our palette, all our shades combine effortlessly, making it easy for you to put together a cohesive colour scheme.

Extraordinary response to light
We spend months carefully crafting and testing each of our paint colours to make sure they share our signature extraordinary response to light. This beautiful reaction to changing light, like bringing out different undertones or shifting intensity, is what makes our paint so special.

Gorgeous illuminating colourBought this to paint a room with dreaded artex textured walls that seemed to make every colour look dingy. So glad I found Tallow, it has totally transformed the walls and definitely has the effect of illuminating all the shadows created by the artex texture. It's a magical colour!

A subtle warm colour for hall and landingWe needed a warm but subtle colour for the hall and landing ares, which are high traffic. The Tallow colour was a great choice as it is a warm but not pink or overtly yellow. Reminds us of primroses in Spring.
Our painter said the Dead Flat paint went on well and provided good coverage - we used F&B primer as we were painting over an emulsion that was decidely pinker. One coat of primer and two of the Dead Flat gas given a solid finish with consistent colour.

Joyful Shade!I was not prepared for how lovely this shade is. It has a very subtle warm hue that lifts my spirit whilst remaining a very light, and neutral pale cream. Just what you want in a home. It is clean and fresh and bright. Had only intended to do one room but would be quite happy to do the whole house in Tallow. Even my husband commented how stunning it looked when he walked in and could see a different quality about it. I have lived with magnolia in the kitchen for many years and was worried about going for a cream neutral again .... But so happy I used Tallow! It is in a different league!

Subtly responsive with light morning to midnightChoosing a wall color for the bedroom--with chosen dark teal and melange bed fabric and local light--took a few years of study. It also required a (DIY) thin skim coat of plaster and 2 sandings to smooth out previous owners' paint applications, but F&B investment energized that arduous task. With guidance from Flathead NY staff, we applied 1 coat primer + 2 Wimborne on ceiling, 2 coats primer on walls + 2 dead flat Tallow on walls. The hyper-pigmentation effects not merely a color, but also a "feeling." It is rich, soft, and sensitively responsive with light, morning to midnight. I could not be more satisfied.

Warm soft peachLovely deep light peach colour that seems to glow in the light, even in a north facing room. We combined it with Kittiwake at the suggestion of farrow and ball and it looks lovely. Perfect for a nursery.

Lovely in every way!I bought Tallow in estate emulsion for a bathroom remodel in my eighteenth century home. It glows in the evening with artificial light, and is equally soothing without being dull in natural light in the daytime. It goes on beautifully, and I took the suggestion of pairing it with Winbourne white, in a gloss finish, for the trim. These pictures are from the project still in process (counters not yet in), but look how great the walls look! Tile in tub surround was chosen to match Tallow’s palette.

Good qualityGood quality finish went well on top of F&B primer. Pleasing slightly off-white colour almost. Used in bathroom.
