A vibrant yellow
Just like the classic American home bake after which it’s named, this vivid yellow has a homely feel that can’t fail to make you smile. Zingy hues like Yellowcake were incredibly popular in the 1960s, and still feel very much at home in the 21st century, especially as part of a bright mid-century modern scheme.

Recommended Primer & Undercoat:White and Light Tones
We’re dedicated to perfecting the art of paint. At our home in Dorset, we combine the finest ingredients, 75 years of experience and technical precision to help you create beautiful spaces that stay beautiful. Even in our colour rich paints, less than 8% of the tin is the colour. The other 92% is what creates the quality, depth and extraordinary response to light that transforms your home.
Paint is like coffee. The colour is the froth on the top, but it’s the quality of the rest of the cup that makes it taste good. – Richard Ball, Farrow & Ball Co-founder
We use twelve exclusive pigments, all specifically selected for their colour intensity. We take colour seriously, so naturally, we only accept the very best. By using these same pigments to make every colour in our palette, all our shades combine effortlessly, making it easy for you to put together a cohesive colour scheme.

Extraordinary response to light
Extraordinary response to light
We spend months carefully crafting and testing each of our paint colours to make sure they share our signature extraordinary response to light. This beautiful reaction to changing light, like bringing out different undertones or shifting intensity, is what makes our paint so special.

Complementary White
All White
All White contains no other pigment except for white, creating the softest most sympathetic colour without the colder blue undertones of a brilliant white. Find out more about All White No.2005
Every colour in the Farrow & Ball palette is paired with a specific shade of white, these are selected to celebrate a shared undertone and create harmonious spaces alongside your chosen colour.
Our White & Light Tones Primer & Undercoat creates a wonderful base for our softest shades. Covering imperfections on your surface and adding extra depth of colour, this primer is based on our simplest colour, All White.
Made with the same natural ingredients and pigments as our topcoats, our Primer & Undercoat is the crucial foundation for creating a rich, even and longer lasting finish.

Yellowcake is exceptional!I painted my upper floor extension exterior with (from bottom to top, left to right): Off Black, Blue Black, Yellowcake, Arsenic, and a white paint from another brand (I forget which). Love how it came out! Yellowcake is a one-of-a-kind color - no other brand has a color that approximates Yellowcake. The best thing about it is how clean and bright it is and its perfect hovering-at-the-edge of charteuse color. Unfortunately the photo was taken in shadow but even so Yellowcake (and Arsenic) read beautifully.
This was painted in 2017 (so, 6 years ago) and the F&B colors still look great in 2023.. The blacks are still saturated, the Yellowcake and Arsenic are still rich and bright - no fading, cracking, staining, or visible wear and tear - while the mystery brand white paint is stained and starting to peel and needs to be repainted now.

Nice colourI love the colour, though it is greener than on the colour cards I have. This is my first time trying the Dead Flat finish, and I have to admit I struggled with it. I am painting MDF drawer fronts which I have sanded and printed. I have done a light sand between each coat with a fine grit, and I am really struggling to get a flat finish. Although the paint is very matt, as you would expect, it doesn't go in as smoothly as the satin paints and the brush marks are impossible to avoid. I also have doubts about the longevity of the finish, it seems to scuff easily. I ended up giving it a thin coat of PU varnish.
