Yellow Ground

A timeless mid yellow

One of our most useable yellows, this sunny shade was first used as a background colour within our ever evolving wallpaper collection. Yellow Ground sits between the fresher pigments of Citron and the richer mustard tone of Sudbury Yellow. It creates a happy and stimulating space in any light without being overpowering in colour.

Recommended Primer & Undercoat: White & Light Tones

Complementary white: White Tie

Yellow Ground is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 39.

Back in 2010, we moved our entire range to an eco-friendly water base that’s low odour, low VOC and child-safe, becoming the first in the industry to do so. Easy to clean without harmful solvents, in tins that can be recycled again and again, our paints help to reduce the environmental impact of redecorating your home.

Every one of our paint colours is available in a range of durable interior and exterior paint finishes, each rigorously tested to ensure an exceptional depth of colour and long-lasting finish. For the very best results, we always recommend using a Farrow & Ball Primer & Undercoat – see above for the correct tone for this colour.

All Farrow & Ball finishes except Limewash contain isothiazolinones, which may produce an allergic reaction. Farrow & Ball Limewash contains calcium hydroxide which can cause severe damage in contact with skin or eyes. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Yellow Ground is a beautiful color! We started with Dorset Cream which we'd used before and it was too pale in our dining room so we settled on Yellow Ground and it is so pretty and reminds us of England. (We live in the US.) It makes us happy everytime we use the room. It changes color depending on the time of day. The Estate Emulsion has scuffed a bit since it was painted. It's definitely not for high traffic areas but provides a great dead flat look.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lovely new look During lockdown I have had the time to freshen up my rooms and chose Yellow Ground for my dining room and lounge. Love the results. Covers really well with one coat so was quick to achieve a new fresh look.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from True creamy yellow Depending on the light, Yellow Ground varied from yellow to a bright creamy colour. In contrast, Sudbury Yellow seemed to range from yellow to dull gold, whilst Babouche and Citron in some lights had hints of green, and at night Dorset Cream could seem surprisingly white. At the moment we are thinking of using Yellow Ground for the new kitchen cupboards, with the archive colour Fowler Pink for the kitchen walls to tie in with the new terracotta floor tiles. NB this was only a sample pot and the project hasn't yet begun.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great delivery to France. Tried 2 F&B yellows but think I may order more of a creamy colour.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A warm bright cheery colour. This was the first time I had purchased Farrow and Ball paint and I was very impressed. The colour was excellent, the paint had good coverage, and the delivery was quicker than expected. Although more expensive than a lot of other brands I feel it was money well spent.
