Red Earth

A warm terracotta red

This light terracotta hue takes its name from the very soil beneath our feet. Red Earth is a rich blend of red and yellow pigments which create a warm earthy feel in homes both old and new. Often best used in smaller spaces, this warm colour responds extraordinarily to the changes of light throughout the day, becoming deeper and cosier as the sun drops.

Recommended Primer & Undercoat: Red & Warm Tones

Complementary white: Dimity

Every one of our paint colours is available in a range of durable interior and exterior paint finishes, each rigorously tested to ensure an exceptional depth of colour and long-lasting finish. For the very best results, we always recommend using a Farrow & Ball Primer & Undercoat – see above for the correct tone for this colour.

All Farrow & Ball finishes except Limewash contain isothiazolinones, which may produce an allergic reaction. Farrow & Ball Limewash contains calcium hydroxide which can cause severe damage in contact with skin or eyes. Rated 5 out of 5 by from No regrets! Love the color My hallway is narrow, so I wanted to create the illusion of more room. I read two colors one on top and a second in the bottom would achieve this. I decided to use a darker color in the bottom – the red earth that was described as terrecota was just want I was looking for. In the top I used the Skimming stone.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Once used, never forgotten! We had this on our slatted doors dividing living from dining rooms in Texas and my girls aptly named it "hot dog pink." We have since moved to Pennsylvania and it's time to paint the kitchen. The girls chanted, "hot dog pink!" They miss the color, so do I.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Colour was just right! I had many attempts at getting the right colour for a south facing living room, all of which looked lovely on the tin but washed out in natural daylight, then I took the plunge for this strong colour, Red Earth. After reading some reviews, i was a but wary as i didn't want a pinkish finish, and this colour didn't disappoint. It painted up as a strong, deep terracotta colour in my south facing room. It also matched perfectly with Elephants Breath and Skimming Stone, so I now have all three colours in my room and it feels warm and cosy. I think it's definitely worth trying more vivid colours for south facing rooms, it makes such a difference to the end result

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Gorgeous earthy color! I love Red Earth! An American Master Gardner I know says we shouldn't be afraid to use the color orange in our gardens because it "gets the juices flowing". I think the same thing goes for using orange in our interior decor. I'm planning to use Red Earth as wainscoting with upper walls in Archive, ceiling in Dimity and dark grayed teal countertops similar to Coppice Blue. Flooring may be Smoked Trout or Deep Reddish Brown. I can't wait to see the finished room!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from TRANDFORMATION OF MY KITCHEN CUPBOARD DOORS! Red Earth has transformed my kitchen cupboard doors. The finish of the Estate Eggshell is so professional. With grey knobs and handles to set off the Red Earth it makes my kitchen stylish and up to date worth all the hard work! Thank you!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wasn't sure but love it! I had a small pot of fired earth for a border I used in a nursery about 4 years ago. I recently stumbled upon this and need to freshen up the bathroom. I went in guns blazing and literally had a field day. Ceiling, walls the lot. It's a very small space and was sceptical about the overall darkness but nonetheless, I'm loving it.
