We’re proud to call Dorset our home. We’re constantly considering how we can give back to our local community, and the wider world.
We’re currently supporting the River Allen Community Interest Company (CIC) as our charity partner for 2024, which was chosen by our Giving and Growing Group. The River Allen CIC is a grassroots group with a focus on protecting and restoring the chalkstream that runs from Wimborne St Giles to Wimborne Minster in Dorset. This local river is a pivotal part of the landscape neighbouring our factory, so much so, it’s one of our main water sources.
Chalkstreams are a headline of Dorset’s natural heritage. One of the rarest habitats on earth, they play a crucial role in supporting biodiversity. In fact, there are only 260 of these rivers in the world and 85% of them are found in the UK, predominantly in the south of England.
These freshwater rivers are fed by underground aquifers, creating crystal-clear waters that act as a haven for endangered species like water voles, otters and native trout. Many bird species also depend on these streams for food and nesting.
Preserving these fragile habitats is incredibly important; however, climate change and human activity pose growing threats.
