Ultra Marine Blue

No.W29

Ultra Marine Blue is from our new Colour by Nature palette, created in collaboration with the Natural History Museum to bring the true colours of nature into your home.

A romantic mid-toned blue

A stunning blue with a slightly romantic feel, Ultra Marine Blue has been in favour since the 18th century, when it was often used to make small rooms feel bigger. For the contemporary home, it looks striking on cabinetry, especially combined with a kitchen island in dramatic Scotch Blue.

Recommended Primer & Undercoat: Mid Tones

Complementary white: Ash Grey

Ultra Marine Blue is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 21.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Absolutely gorgeous rich colour Bought ultra marine blue for a kitchen: it’s so gorgeous! Delightful to work with: it’s a smooth and glossy paint (some colours can be a bit chalky). The colour is stunning. There’s not really a picture that can do it justice... it does what it says on the tin, evoking a nautical feel that paired with natural wood is a perfect seaside themed colour scheme. Can’t rave about this one enough; and I’ve been through a lot of F&Bs colour chart. It’s just lovely.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Result Only have a small kitchen but in my mind I knew exactly what I was trying to achieve. I must admit I was a little sceptical about the colour thinking it would be too dark. But decided to go ahead anyway feeling I could soon go over it again with a different colour. Wow more than delighted with this ultra marine blue. Kitchen actually looks bigger. The paint was very easy to apply and has a lovely finish. I don’t think I could have achieved this with any other product. Very positive comments from friends. Thank you Farrow and Ball this is the second time your products have delighted me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful, vibrant colour - applies easily. We bought this colour for our bathroom (I would honestly paint it everywhere if I could), it’s such a vibrant colour. Feels quite mid century but also - like the description says - romantic and classic. It gives a freshness to the space, in the sense that it makes a statement, it’s both a rich colour but also something familiar and grounding to it. Application wise it goes on very well. We’ve done two coats on 3 walls. Bought a 2.5kitre pot and used around half. It would be great if F&B did smaller pots for bathroom/kitchen paint as a lot of it does unfortunately go to waste... which sort of lowers any green credentials. But paint wise, it is great. We used a short pile synthetic roller and got a really nice finish. No smell at all and seems to be holding up in the bathroom. We did paint this in a small bathroom with little natural light - and it really works by making the space feel cosier. Also as with most F&B paints, when the daylight shines on it too get a beautiful deep colour.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fabulous I have been doing 6 room renovations since lockdown began and have used all different Farrow and Ball colours on both interior walls and wood and metal. All have been brilliant but this blue really gave me son's room a bright boost - he loves it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ultra Cool Blue I bought the Ultra Marine Blue to freshen up a long metal handrail that leads to my front door and I'm delighted with the performance of the paint and the result. The paint was easy to apply over a Farrow & Ball undercoat. Though it was a warm day, I was surprised by the speed with which the paint dried. A metal rail is not the most exciting thing to photograph, but I've done my best. As for the result, I am delighted. Fanciful, but the colour evokes memories of the south of France.
