Imperial Purple

Imperial Purple is from our new Colour by Nature palette, created in collaboration with the Natural History Museum to bring the true colours of nature into your home.

A rich deep purple

Deep Imperial Purple transforms dining rooms and other intimate spaces, creating a luxurious look and enveloping feel. Used in smaller quantities, such as inside a bookcase, it can add a rich pocket of colour to even the most neutral of rooms – try it with soft Snow White and Ash Grey for a relaxed scheme with a playful touch.

Recommended Primer & Undercoat: Dark Tones

Complementary white: Ash Grey

Imperial Purple is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 13.

Back in 2010, we moved our entire range to an eco-friendly water base that’s low odour, low VOC and child-safe, becoming the first in the industry to do so. Easy to clean without harmful solvents, in tins that can be recycled again and again, our paints help to reduce the environmental impact of redecorating your home.

Every one of our paint colours is available in a range of durable interior and exterior paint finishes, each rigorously tested to ensure an exceptional depth of colour and long-lasting finish. For the very best results, we always recommend using a Farrow & Ball Primer & Undercoat – see above for the correct tone for this colour.

All Farrow & Ball finishes except Limewash contain isothiazolinones, which may produce an allergic reaction. Farrow & Ball Limewash contains calcium hydroxide which can cause severe damage in contact with skin or eyes. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bedroom paint I purchased this sample pot to see if it would match the colours in my décor. I have and Edwardian house and like to keep colours in keeping with the period. This colour would be fab for a period house and looks good next to a black slate fireplace. Will now be purchasing paint with this company as its cheaper than from our local DIY store who never have the full paint range and if they have a certain colour they never have more than 2 tins in stock. I have purchased from Farrow and Ball before because they are so reliable and fast delivery. The sample pot came in a cute little box, very well packaged. When purchased previously to decorate a large bedroom, my decorator commented on how smooth the paint was going on compared to other brands and what good coverage it has. Highly recommend this company and this paint!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lovely intense colour I bought a sample pot of Imperial Purple to transform an old pine shelf unit into something more unusual, individual and glamorous. It certainly did the trick! The interior is painted with Crimson Red (which is a deep soft pink). I am very pleased with the results. I did need to use 3 coats, however, this was on top of a white undercoat and not the recommended dark one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful colour I have just moved into my new home after my divorce. I did my old place out in the dark blues, which I loved, but wanted something a little different in this house. I loved the inertial purple as soon as I saw it. It needed 3 coats to give the finish achieved in the picture. I was a bit scared at first, as after 2 coats it looked very patchy, but coat 3 sorted it out. I put strong white on the other walls & will paint the cupboards in ammonite, I’ll add bright orange drawer & cupboard knobs. I’m very happy with this strong colour.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Is it blue or purple? Amazing stuff I love purple and this is a smashing colour. It has quite a bit of blue in it though, so I can't use it. That's the point of testers, but on the plus side, I got to play with one of the most awesome colours. If you have a feature wall and this tones with your floor, you are a lucky duck. Need quite a bit to cover, so the Dark Tones Undercoat is probably a good idea. But still great F & B quality, I might have to move house again, so I can use this :)
