Imperial Purple

No.W40

Imperial Purple is from our new Colour by Nature palette, created in collaboration with the Natural History Museum to bring the true colours of nature into your home.

A rich deep purple

Deep Imperial Purple transforms dining rooms and other intimate spaces, creating a luxurious look and enveloping feel. Used in smaller quantities, such as inside a bookcase, it can add a rich pocket of colour to even the most neutral of rooms – try it with soft Snow White and Ash Grey for a relaxed scheme with a playful touch.

Recommended Primer & Undercoat: Dark Tones

Complementary white: Ash Grey

Imperial Purple is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 29.

ECO-FRIENDLY AND CHILD-SAFE

Back in 2010, we moved our entire range to an eco-friendly water base that’s low odour, low VOC and child-safe, becoming the first in the industry to do so. Easy to clean without harmful solvents, in tins that can be recycled again and again, our paints help to reduce the environmental impact of redecorating your home.

QUALITY FINISHES

Every one of our paint colours is available in a range of durable interior and exterior paint finishes, each rigorously tested to ensure an exceptional depth of colour and long-lasting finish. For the very best results, we always recommend using a Farrow & Ball Primer & Undercoat – see above for the correct tone for this colour.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Such a unique colour Used Imperial Purple to paint a chest of drawers, bought a 750ml tin thinking this wouldn't be enough. Painted the drawers with 3 coats and only used a quarter of the tin. Amazing paint

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Imperial! Your home must be able to handle it. But if your home is light enough ....... what a beautiful color. Imperial indeed! This color (like almost all F&B paint) also plays with the light. So you never know what color it really is depending on the time of day. Sometimes it tends to blue, sometimes purple, sometimes indigo.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Imperial purple My daughter nearly went for scotch blue but so glad she didn't. Imperial purple is stunning and a little bit different.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great colour! I bought this tester pot and the colour is beautiful, exactly as it looked on the chart. I have now purchased a large tin.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fabulously rich purple Imperial purple is an unexpected favourite, chosen for our bedroom colour out of a possible six samples. Not quite as deep (dark) as some of the other shades, but with real richness, it is a real hit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Gorgeous colour A gorgeous purple-y blue on my front door, lovely to paint with. To me it looks fairly different now that it's on to how it does on the colour chart, on screen and on the tin but having gone off the images which people had posted with their reviews it has turned out as I wanted it to (perhaps the difference between how paint looks indoors and out?)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Brilliant paint! Thoroughly pleased with the quality of the product. The can of 750ml was spot-on for renovating my mid-century large office cabinet. The colour is perhaps slightly lighter than on pictures but the effect is superb - 1 coat was surprising good, 2 were perfect. Many thanks!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Intense string colour I got this tester pot to check the colour for use in a quite dark room. It should work brilliantly and the intensity makes it really stands out. The quality in a tester pot has allowed me to use it to paint a fire place too, which is incredible
