Broccoli Brown

No.W108

Broccoli Brown is from our new Colour by Nature palette, created in collaboration with the Natural History Museum to bring the true colours of nature into your home.

A quiet dark stone

Broccoli Brown is a quiet dark stone colour that sits effortlessly alongside natural materials such as weathered wood or flagstone floors. Its muted quality makes it ideally suited to studies, where its reserved tone serves as the ideal backdrop, especially when taken over the ceiling as well as the walls.

Recommended Primer & Undercoat: Dark Tones

Complementary white: Orange Coloured White

Broccoli Brown is rated 3.3 out of 5 by 4.

ECO-FRIENDLY AND CHILD-SAFE

Back in 2010, we moved our entire range to an eco-friendly water base that’s low odour, low VOC and child-safe, becoming the first in the industry to do so. Easy to clean without harmful solvents, in tins that can be recycled again and again, our paints help to reduce the environmental impact of redecorating your home.

QUALITY FINISHES

Every one of our paint colours is available in a range of durable interior and exterior paint finishes, each rigorously tested to ensure an exceptional depth of colour and long-lasting finish. For the very best results, we always recommend using a Farrow & Ball Primer & Undercoat – see above for the correct tone for this colour.

SAFETY INFORMATION

All Farrow & Ball finishes except Limewash contain isothiazolinones, which may produce an allergic reaction. Farrow & Ball Limewash contains calcium hydroxide which can cause severe damage in contact with skin or eyes. Rated 5 out of 5 by from A note on names My first reaction, too, to the new Colour by Nature names was...what?! "Broccoli Brown" in particular seemed unfortunate. So I dove into the site for more info and discovered that both the colours AND the names have been reproduced from the 1821 edition of Werner's Nomenclature of Colours. Look for the F&B section "Discover the Collaboration." This is a stunningly executed F&B project involving history, science and the visual arts. Well done!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from What’s in a name? Another ridiculous review on the name... people o It’s paint! It’s all about the colour and the quality which is not in doubt. I love it!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Who named this? I have used farrow and ball for years- fascinated in part by the historical names and contexts used - also by the references to places past and a different era Why on earth has someone agreed the new range names are so dumbed down? Sap green and broccoli brown... really ? If I was to choose one of the new colours and use it in my house I certainly wouldn’t admit to it being named after a rotting vegetable! Please please F&B bring back the class I’m perfectly happy for partnership working with national history museum, which happens to be one of my favourite places - so I can’t believe a better name couldn’t have been found from their amazing exhibits and archive than this vegetable?

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Nothing at all like the colour in F&B website Used F&B in all rooms in our house this is my first disappointment, but what a disappointment. so glad I didn't buy the 5Ltr tin. First of it goes on terrible like glue not paint and if go over a piece you've just painted it removes it, worst paint I've ever used. The colour looks absolutely nothing like the picture on F&B website or anything like their description. It is about ten shades darker and is a dark brown. I have salon drab in my bathroom and you cant tell the difference between the two, will be contacting F&B to see if they have put the wrong paint in the tin, If you can call it paint. not happy this time F&B.
