I found a sample board of this in my local showroom when I was looking for a brown that was darker than Tanner's Brown. If you are also on that search then this is the colour for you - very dark, like treacle or molasses, the colour of bitter chocolate in direct sunlight, shading to black when the light is low. As such it has a slightly Victorian/Dickensian vibe to it, and the slight metallic sheen from the eggshell paint made me think of Victorian engineering and steampunk. It's deeply traditional but has the potential to be quite edgy in the right setting. My major gripe is that it's called Grate Black! This is a terrible name for such a gloriously unctuous colour. Time for a relaunch!
